I went with my family last week while vacationing in Bayeux. Our hostess recommended the restaurant and we also saw it had very good reviews in google so we made a reservation. However, it was one of our worst experiences in our vacation. We arrived at 8 pm and they sat us in our table, so far so good. It took a while for them to ask our drinks and order, but since the restaurant was full we understood. After almost an hour they brought the only entree we ordered, it was a dish of foie gras, not something that would require that much of time to prepare. It was 10 pm (two hours after we were seated) and no sign of the second dish. My ten year old daughter was evidently very upset and hungry as we all were. I told the waiter that if they hadn’t even started making our plates to please bring the check. Without any explanation or sign of being sorry they just brought the check. We felt completely ignored and insulted, all of the tables that were next to us had their dinner, even a couple that arrived after us. I even wondered if they treated us this badly because we were foreign or because we had a ten year old. I cannot find an explanation as to why we were mistreated like this. We left hungry and without any possibility to eat somewhere else since it was so late the restaurants around the area were closed. It was a terrible experienced and one of the worst customer...
Read moreI enjoyed the experience here. The service was attentive in the beginning but after the appetizer, we wondered if they had forgotten about us. Dining in France is definitely slower than the states but this worried us. However, when our food did arrive, it was excellent! My son had the fixed dinner and I cannot remember what he ate, only that he enjoyed it. I had the veggie plate because I do not eat meat. I was surprised that it came with a veggie burger and probably the best one I have ever had anywhere. I enjoyed the fresh vegetables, the roasted potatoes, etc. It was one of the best meals we had in Normandy and Paris. The dessert sampler was okay but I would probably skip it and get a specific dessert next time in larger portions. The owner(I think) was amazingly friendly and kind. He alone made our experience very pleasant and that's what makes them five stars though there service was spotty. My advice to all tourists is to try to speak French first, you will get a better response with everyone even if you a...
Read moreWe've been to Bayeux for a two week holiday and tried some restaurants in town - "Le Volet Qui Penche" was our favourite by far. The food was excellent, and, please: I know you all love steaks (and they do them very well), but give the other, more local, dishes a chance - they more than deserve it! The service was extraordinary kind and helpful, we felt more than welcome (and we came there several times...) and always left with a smile. As to the wine: The combination of the offered wines and the knowledge (and patience) of the service was outstanding, even if you don't want to pay 80€ a bottle (try the "Hommage à Fernand"). These guys love wine, these guys love food and these guys love you - and...
