Jack The Cockerel - Biarritz — Restaurant in Bayonne

I visited this restaurant last Saturday night with my girlfriend. Nice place when you enter and a great view looking out at the ocean. When we were shown to our seat we noticed the material to be very dirty. Stained with old food and drinks. We were going to request another table but noticed that all the seats around the area we were given were in a similar dirty state. To make things worse, when the waitress was serving another guest she spilled a glass of white wine all over the table soaking our clothes and belongings. All we got in return was a discreet apology and some tissues to try clean ourselves up. I found this very in professional and not very pleasant. However now we did match the decor of the establishment. I ordered the beef which was fine but my girlfriend ordered the Caesar salad. She ate half and gave the other half to me. It was completely over powered by the amount of the cheese sauce added. It was not enjoyable at all. Not only was there too much sauce but I felt the ingredients were not of a great quality compared to other restaurants I’ve eaten in in Biarritz. Absolutely awful experience. The service at this restaurant is beyond unacceptable — rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. The staff spoke in an incredibly disrespectful manner, both to us and shockingly, even to our children.

Our kids, aged 10–12, were quietly playing near our table when one of the waitresses approached them aggressively and told them to “stop making a mess” and to “clean up after themselves.” When the children tried to explain that they hadn’t done anything wrong, she snapped back at them and said, “Don’t lie.” Excuse me? Who gives a waitress the right to speak to someone else’s children like that? Who do you think you are?

On top of this appalling behavior, the restaurant serves bottled water — except it’s clearly just tap water poured into bottles and sold at full price. We also ordered an expensive bottle of wine from the menu, and what we were served was clearly a cheap, boxed house wine poured into a carafe. Disgraceful.

This place is a scam with the worst attitude I’ve ever encountered in hospitality. Absolutely do not recommend. Avoid...

I would highly recommend that all visitors to Biarritz avoid this restaurant at all costs.

I visited with my girlfriend, she found a 🐛Caterpillar in her salad 🥗 and your waiters defense was that this showed it was fresh salad, it did not it showed that the kitchen was not able to clean and prepare food correctly. I also got a steak that may as well still have been mooing 🐄 it was so under cooked in the centre but burnt on the outside.

Your response too both my review and my girlfriends shows the total level of unprofessional service this restaurant provides.

Avoid at all cost we were sick from this experience. Don't worry we will be making a complaint to the food safety standard authority:(ANSES) as this restaurant does not comply with any European Food Safety Standards.
