L'Atelier Marcel - fondue — Restaurant in Bonneville

Ludicrously rude staff, and overpriced mediocre food. I never usually leave bad reviews but this was the worst service I’ve experienced in my life.

The evening began by the waitress knocking a full glass of wine over me, soaking my leg, arm, chair and table. People make mistakes, but no apology, no replacement glass of wine, she did not even bring over any serviettes/towels or help us clean up her mess.

I asked her (several times) for a replacement glass of wine and more serviettes, (we’d used them all for soaking up wine), she proceeded to give me outlandishly dirty looks for the rest of the evening, even muttering rude comments in French when she was at the table, it was bizarre. After some time she brought over a new empty wine glass.

My friend ordered a bottle of white wine, (pointing to the bottle on the menu so there could be no misunderstanding). The guy behind the bar plonked a bottle of red wine on the table, cork already removed, no one offered to taste it. My partner assumed it was an apology for the spillage incident as he’d also asked that man about a replacement glass of wine, and no one had ordered red, but instead it transpired the waitress had made a mistake (or they were just getting rid of a bottle) whatever the case we were later charged for this.

In addition to spilling wine on me, the waitress had been clumsy throughout, so I was genuinely nervous when she brought over the boiling hot fondue. I moved back from the table and she scowled (in English) “what is your problem”, so I replied in English “you are very rude” and then she shouted at me that I should speak in French and stormed off.

The restaurant was half empty, and yet the waitress negated to give some of us plates, no one got fondue sticks, amongst other omissions, every request we made was met with a scowl.

I could bare it no longer, so my partner and I complained to the man behind the bar, (who implied he was the manager) he mocked, belittled and gaslit us. The waitress joined in by giving a sarcastic mock apology, and even lied saying the friend sitting opposite me had caused her to knock over the wine (he was outside the restaurant vaping at the time).

Overall a truly horrible evening. A table near ours also had an altercation with the waitress, so this rude behaviour is clearly a theme. Meanwhile the food was mediocre (watery fondue and stale cheap bread) and over priced. There are much better restaurants in the area, so I recommend you avoid this diabolical place at all costs.

In all my years of visiting France (30+) never had such wonderful service. The staff was so attentive and kind. Food was delicious and typical of a good bistro. Very impressed by their professionalism and friendly...

Bonne cuisine, malgré un service quelque peu décevant. En effet, les remarques des serveurs étaient trop familières. Alors que nous mangions une fondue pour cinq, la serveuse était surprise que nous redemendions du pain, à cause du fait que les paniers étaient trop petits.

Ce restaurant passe une musique de boîte de nuit avec un volume sonore trop forte, alors que nous sommes dans un restaurant; le chef du restaurant règle ses problèmes avec sa serveuse, sous des airs de fausses sympathies en public, ce qui est indécent..
