We had the pleasure of trying out Le Torrent, where we opted for both the fondue savoyarde and the fondue aux cepes for dinner. The flavors were undeniably delightful, and the portion sizes exceeded expectations - we found ourselves with an abundance of food that we simply couldn't finish. Alongside this, their green salad was a true highlight, striking a perfect balance and arriving at our table wonderfully fresh. The attentive and friendly service further elevated our dining experience. All within a cosy and warm atmosphere.

While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, a small observation pertains to the fondue savoyarde. It could have been improved with a touch less salt. In the case of the fondue aux cepes, the cheese seemed to be too liquid due to the high temperature in the pot, subsequently affecting its taste. Upon removing the pot from the heat, we noticed a positive change in texture, allowing the exquisite blend of mushroom and cheese to come through. Perhaps a milder flame for the fondue aux cepes pot would ensure an even more enjoyable...

Le Torrent has a lovely atmosphere. The food is mediocre… the chicken dish seemed to be reheated versus freshly made, and is way overpriced. What was really disappointing is how the server tried to rush us out as soon as possible. I guess they heard our accents, figured we weren’t local, and thought let’s get them in and out. The server(with the long black ponytail) was watching us like a hawk, rolling her eyes if we weren’t eating fast enough. Our reservation was at 7.30pm for a table of 5 people. Our starters arrived within 5 minutes, practically thrown on the table. Our main dishes arrived quickly after. It was 8.20pm and they’re asking us if we’d liked dessert. We were so annoyed that we said no to dessert and left the restaurant at 8.30pm. A 250€ meal which was rushed and stressful. Maybe they were more patient and kind to the following guests? Oh, and if the owner responds saying it’s the customer’s fault for their unprofessional service, it says a lot about them and the restaurant. Read the 1-2 star reviews...

We made our reservation over the phone and arrived around 2:30 PM on a Sunday. Our group of three ordered the set menu along with one additional main course. We noticed a note on the menu stating that if the number of main courses ordered is fewer than the number of guests at the table, a €25 surcharge would apply. We asked the waitress—who was unfortunately quite rude—whether this could be waived, especially given that the restaurant was nearly empty. She initially refused, which seemed unreasonable under the circumstances. However, after we indicated we would leave, she changed her mind and allowed us to proceed without the surcharge.

As for the food, it was mostly unremarkable. The fondue was excellent, but the chicken dish fell short of expectations. On a positive note, the restaurant is centrally located in Megève and the owners were warm and welcoming. If they can ensure their staff are more courteous and better trained, the overall experience would be...

Very fulfilling food - abundant, warm, to fill your tummy and senses. Felt like a big Christmas dinner at your grandmother's home. Portions are big! I got the fixed menu with appetiser, main and dessert, and honestly I could have stopped at appetiser. But I am glad I didn't as the main was super nice. Fish was cooked absolutely beautifully (I salted myself though), with nice almond sauce, gorgeous ratatouille and some wild/red rice accompanying it. My husband got the eggs with truffle which was super nice as well. He had the tartiflette for main; I didn't try but he said it was good. The cheese sauce that came with it was sufficient for me to dip some nice French bread and have my own pieces of fondue. It was marvellous. I opted for the creme brulee for my dessert - eaten with gusto by my husband, but I had a couple of bites - and I don't regret it!

A very pretty restaurant with a lovely traditional atmosphere and good service. However, the food was terrible. We had the chicken and truffle tagliatelle which was about €40 and tasted of absolutely nothing. The sauce was watery, the chicken was bland and the overall dish was just reminiscent of cafeteria like school lunch. Worth €5 at best. The 8 h slow cooked pork belly was slightly better but even that was really fatty and the blueberry sauce a bit too sweet. The chestnut crème brûlé was probably the worst I’ve had in France- the consistency was just off, it was almost liquid and gooey and it looked and felt like melted gelato or custard. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and the restaurant and staff really are lovely but the food is just shockingly bad for what you pay!
