Last year, on our way to Megève, we stopped in Chamonix almost by chance and discovered La Cabane des Praz. We loved it so much that we ended up staying 4 extra days just to come back every evening.
The view of Mont Blanc, the peaceful green surroundings, the beautiful chalet atmosphere—all of it is unforgettable. But none of it would matter as much without the people who bring it to life.
Nicolas and Valérie welcomed us last year with a warmth and professionalism that made us feel not just guests, but genuinely cared for. This year, returning to Chamonix, we found that same spirit—amplified by Julien, Anthony, and Nans. Together, they made our week exceptional. Every interaction felt personal, every detail was handled with thought and elegance.
In my view, this team is the restaurant’s greatest treasure. They are the reason guests like us return, the reason this place feels more than just a beautiful setting. The management is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated, capable, and genuinely kind people representing them.
To Nicolas, Valérie, Julien, Anthony, and Nans—thank you for making us feel so welcome, once again. You have our deepest appreciation, and we look forward to...
Read moreWe have been visiting this restaurant for the last three years and it has always been exceptional, however when we came back last night, we felt extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered the Truffle & parmesan pasta, which we have had several times in the past and for the first time it was tasteless, under seasoned and felt extremely heavy. The Reblochon crispy rolls were a big disappointment too as they felt empty inside. The aged lamb was very average, and the carrots felt burnt. The entrecôte was cold inside and the garnishing really poor.
We were excited to come back to this restaurant as it has been great every time we have visited while staying in Chamonix, however after our last visit we don’t feel like we will be back again unless the quality of the food raise the standard as it used to be...
Read moreI have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant La Cabane des Praz in Chamonix ski resort, France.
A magical atmosphere in a cozy wooden cabin surrounded by snow, enhanced by charming Christmas decorations. The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, even lending me a snow brush for my car. The food was delightful: the scallop tartare was beautifully presented and flavorful, the poultry with creamy morel mushroom sauce was tasty (though the skin could have been crispier), and the apple crumble dessert was fresh and delicious. A wonderful experience overall—highly recommended! (I didn’t pay, so I can’t comment on...
