This is my "go-to" Pub in Bordeaux. The staff is fun, helpful, knowledgeable and know how to pour an ice cold beer. It was a cold winter's night when I wandered in for my nightly pour and found myself in need of comfort food so decided to give the Beef & Guinness Pie a try (I've enjoyed the Chicken/Mushroom Pie on many occasions and it too is delicious). I wanted something richer in flavor and this pie was a home run!! The beautifully browned crust dunked into the rich gravy followed by a mouthful of tender beef was perfect. To my delight it came with a side of mashed potatoes, fresh broccoli and kale. There was enough food for 2 meals (I enjoyed leftovers the next day)! Alex, the chef takes pride in his work and it was apparent with every bite! Cambridge Arms offers GREAT burgers, fresh salads and a lovely spicy (not too) chicken curry. There's a variety of beers on tap and a selection of wines all served up by the super friendly, fun staff. The Pub itself is reminiscent of a Pub you'd find in the UK. It's cozy and quirky, busy and noisy and it's a fun place to watch football. Weather permitting the outside terrasse is open and available for seating too. I'd highly recommend a visit to Cambridge Arms on your next visit to Bordeaux. You won't be...
Read moreVery disappointed. I used to eat here regularly a couple of years ago, and the burger was consistently delicious. I went here last week and unfortunately the burger was nothing like it used to be. The server didn’t even ask us how we wanted our steak cooked. The meat had no flavour, the bun was too hard. They sell a “bacon avocado” burger, but they don’t use real avocados - instead they use gross French “guacamole” which is nothing like Mexican or American guacamole. A truly mediocre burger.
The fries, however, are delicious.
Also, the restaurant was empty and we sat for almost ten minutes waiting to just get a menu.
The server himself was friendly, it’s just a shame that no one told us where to get menus or place an order. I do...
Read moreThe alcohol is not the cheapest (7 euro) around this area, neither are the choices of alcohol. The staff is friendly though, talkative and engages with most customers based on observations. They also speak english. The BBQ chicken wings however are probably the worst around. It came overburned in black rather than golden brown. The sauce was little to none. And generally anyone could make better at home for 5 Euro. If you are looking for BBQ chicken wings i found Molly Malone to be the best one in the city so far. From what i can tell from other reviews you should stick to the...
