Le Comptoir Saint Andre - Cave à vin - Fromagerie - Restaurant - Traiteur — Restaurant in Bordeaux

Althought there are many wine shops in Bordeaux only Le Comptoir Epicerie Saint Andre has Cedric and Maria. Not only are they two of the most knowledgeable proprietors you could meet, but more importantly they are two of the nicest people you will ever meet and get to know. Walking into their shop is like walking into a home filled with wines and cheeses. After stopping in to pick up a few bottles of wine and some cheese, two hours later (with a trip down to Cedric's wine cellar) we had everything we needed; excellent wine, wonderful cheeses, but more importantly new friends.

The last time I visited Bordeaux 3 years ago I stumbled across this place and felt it was the best little gem of a find, and so wished to revisit. 3 years on, must have been fate I just landed in Bordeaux and found it again by chance without any map. The owners are lovely , the food excellent, and they really make you welcome like a visiting family member. Worth hunting out this place to anyone visiting the city. A hidden champion in Bordeaux. Amazing food - starters + main dish were great. The wine we chose downstairs was also magnificent. The owner suggested us a nice bottle of sparkling wine, of which we bought another bottle for the next dinner at home. The service was perfect - we had a lovely chat with the owners during our stay.
