The true Plat Du Jour experience!

We were 2 adults, 2 kids on an unseasonably cold June weekend staying nearby and looking for somewhere to eat. As we had young children, we wanted to eat early and couldn't wait til 7, and thankfully Google told us this place open at 6 so off we went!

We love Northern France and we love the plat du jour experience rather than having a whole huge menu.

Even though they had just opened, we were welcomed with open arms and shown a table inside by the window. The gentleman was clearly the only one in at the time - waiter and cook!

One of our group could speak some basic French - enough to get by in a restaurant - but he could tell we weren't French, and even though he didn't speak English, he was kind enough to speak slowly in French so we could all get by, he told us the kids menu which was chicken nuggets, breaded fish or ham all with house potatoes, so perfectly reasonable dishes, with some ice cream for after.

We were shown the Plat Du Jour board and I have to say out biggest challenge was.... the fancy handwriting😂 It looked beautiful but we found it so hard to read! We did figure it out though and we both chose the tomato and mozzarella starter, then the steak with hosue potatoes, and the pollock with black rice and chorizo cream plus ice cream for dessert.

It all came out in a timely manner and the main courses especially were wonderful. The steak was so beefy and it was a cut you don't really see in the UK, the 'coeur de faux filet' which was sort of a piece of tenderloin with some fat. But whatever it was, it was cooked medium rare as asked and seasoned so well.

The pollock was the star though, cooked to perfection and so moist, and the chorizo cream was incredible, just the right amount on flavour. I could have had it as a soup!

The portions were incredible for the price, and the service was wonderful. Cannot fault the place and would definitely go back again next time we are...

We came to eat something after long day with our kid. We were really hungry and wanted to order something fast. We had a look at menu and chosen already what we wanted so we took a seat at table, waiter come and we wanted to order but he said he wants us to have a look at menu...ok, 5min later come couple that wanted to order ice creams but he told them also to seat and see menu...20 min later waiter come to them (not to us even after i gave sign we wanted to...

We had a very enjoyable lunch here. We were lucky enough to get an outside table, which was great for watching the world go by along the main cobbled street through the old fortified town. We will definitely stop here again next time we are...

Nous avions réservé avant notre retour, pour déjeuner sur place. Le lieu est très cosy, avec un accueil chaleureux et souriant. Le choix est restreint, mais nous avons trouvé cela très bien : c’est souvent gage de qualité. Les quantités étaient parfaites, ni trop, ni trop peu. Les plats étaient délicieux. Nous avons pris l’envie du chef et le poisson du jour : un vrai régal ! Petit bémol cependant : les assiettes étaient un peu trop petites, ce qui rendait la découpe de la viande ou du poisson peu pratique. Nous recommandons !

Super rapport qualité prix, des plats délicieux, bien présentés, un service agréable, grand bravo au chef qui travaille seul à la cuisine nous avons pris le filet de sébaste, crème chorizo, riz rouge, la pièce du boucher à la cuisson très bien maitrisée. Le carpaccio et le tartare également délicieux. On reviendra si on est dans les environs de Boulogne. Pour le dessert prenez le beignet de glace vanille, une tuerie. C'est simple, bon et bien situé.

Super rapport qualité prix, des plats délicieux, bien présentés, un service agréable, grand bravo au chef qui travaille seul à la cuisine nous avons pris le filet de sébaste, crème chorizo, riz rouge, la pièce du boucher à la cuisson très bien maitrisée. Le carpaccio et le tartare également délicieux. On reviendra si on est dans les environs de Boulogne. Pour le dessert prenez le beignet de glace vanille, une tuerie. C'est simple, bon et bien situé.
