Restaurant L'Annexe Grand Hôtel Serre Chevalier — Restaurant in Briançon

If you want to experience true French customer service look no further. L'Annexe restaurant comes complete with a standoffish waitress who is also the manager, lacklustre service and an unsuppressable appetite for disappointment. We ordered a typical lunch fare which consisted of burgers and fries and a Caesar salad. The burger of death as it was advertised on the menu was good, well cooked although lacked a bit of seasoning. The fries were homemade but badly so. They were tiny brown overcooked limp bottom-of-the-barrel potatoes that were served at room temperature without any offer of ketchup or mayo. The Caesar salad itself was overdressed to the point that Liberace would have been embarrassed. I am aware that a Caesar salad is never the healthy option but to serve it with fried chicken and that amount of dressing gives the burger of death a run for its money. We ate the burger but not the fries or Caesar salad although we were charged for them, after some rather frosty discussion with the manager she managed to find a €5 discount which is just not acceptable for a hotel that claims 4 stars.
