Well...how should I start. Long long time ago I was eating delicious Indian food but let’s be honest - it was not at the ‚La porte du Punjab’. The reservation was done on the internet but at the ‚restaurant’ the waiter had no information that the customers are coming. The waiter was alone. He was trying to explain that he is a chef and the waiter is coming. Fortunately there was nobody inside so the choice of the tables was unlimited. Nice waiter said that he is alone but he will take the order. Indian cocktail to start was ok. Shrimps salad was not a salad - it was rather the mix of yoghurt and shrimps without a lot of taste. The waiter was puhing for the consumption by proposing ‚famous’ nan with garlic. After the salad it was tasteless Biryani Punjab. In the meantime another men came (the owner??) with stained shirt and opened fly (!). He brought a food. The time at this restaurant could be measured by the microwave oven doors slammed with the Swiss watch precision. This could explain the lack of taste of food cooked inside this machine. The bill was in the inversed proportion to the food taste (fortunately quantity was small so I didn’t need to take care about my diet. Quality / price ratio very poor. Thanks to this restaurant I realized the unsavory Indian food is existibg. Thank you La porte du Punjab. I know that I will not go there anymore. The first and the last time in this ‚restaurant’. A lot of money spend and a lot of bad...
Read moreThe menu food description was better than actual food . Portions laughably small ..! Beer was nearly €7. Had we read the HONEST reviews about the food all being microwaved package food , and stupidly popping in there instead of trying the place on a whim , we could have spent our money on a real restaurant .Waiter asks which kind of rice you want with your meal without explaining it comes with an extra charge !? Curry rice on the side had no curry flavor , nor did my curry chicken , which also promised Ginger and coriander... ( none detected ). Turned out to be 5 morsels of chicken swimming in non-descript tomato sauce .... spices were lacking . All things considered - food was not a standout , portions were very small , prices were high for the portion size and lack of ingredients, service was just okay . Somehow dropped €70 for two having simple dishes , a soup , a bahji entree , some beers and tea . Service was ok at first then order was mixed up , waiter was pushy for us to order more items , food was not as advertised , service was unfriendly as we left . left feeling hungry . could have kicked ourselves for not exploring the quaint restaurants lined up around the corner , though at €6.-7 for a 12cl glass of wine these places were overpriced too ... tourist...
Read moreIt was my first indian/Pakistani cuisine experience... The place has good vibes with its decorations and colors, i can say that its an explosion of colors... however some tables aren't very well lit So the menu is detailed in french so u know what ur gonna get, and for someone like me who s trying indian for the first time its great There are different menu options with reasonable prices however i wouldn't recommend the menu for two cause its too many things, fills u up before desert and they send u the food like within 5 mins that u end up eating really fast trying not to have cold food Im not sure if they wanted to get us out of there fast or its just how they serve 5 set menu The table for two is too small for the plates like any french restaurant but like the plates where huge tooo Everything is very well seasoned, some meals needed more salt for my taste and there wasn't any on the tables... Its a good experience but i think it would be my last Never knew what was the green minty syrup served ....
And btw what is really nice All the meat/chicken served...
