Visiting Caen we decided to dine @Stéphane Carbone. Just after the restaurants are REopening (Covid-19), where all businesses are fighting for customers we were happy to spoil ourselfs a bit. WhenI made reservation on-ligne I informed the restaurants that I'am pregnant and I have pregnancy diabetes. Unfortunately, this has been ignored. From the beginning of our lunch the waitress did not know about my dietary needs, but she exchanged 2 of the 5 dishes after reminding her. Food there is sweet and not well seasoned. After a while, waitress also made sure that I suffer from diabetes. Unfortunately, the kitchen did not addapt any dishes, each of the 5 COURSES was served on / with white bread, sweet puree and sweet fruit sorbet. I even got chocolate ganache and sweetened strawberry smoothie for petit four! when my husband complained to the waiter that they weren't serious about my dietary requirements which can cause dangerous consequences for me and my babe, his answer was: "Ah bah oui". We are both working and having experience in the international catering industry for over 10 years, and never saw ignorance of allergies and dealing with complaints like this. This is unacceptable! Our 5-course tasting menu took 65 minutes (in and out- if you ask for a break in between the courses your wish is ignored) and costed around 130 euros. There is not check- back to the table( "c'été fini"- is not the way to make sure that the guests are satisfied with a dish), no conversation with your server(wine matching was really poor also), nor kindness, nor pleasure to be there. We are trully disappointed with Stéphane Carbone restaurant, with evidence that is no gastronomic restaurant anymore. With so many restaurants who are happy to provide an extra touch to the paying guests we will...
Read moreHonestly, the experience was quite disappointing. The dessert was excellent but the appetizers were far too salty and the entree of white fish was really bland and served with cold vegetables. The main of St. Jacques was well cooked but nothing exciting. The service was smothering at times and the waiters visited our table almost every 5 minutes which killed the atmosphere and interrupted our conversations.... at one point I was still chewing the food in my mouth when she removed my plate & then she stood there waiting. My partner still had his appetiser on the plate & was chewing, she said "I'm waiting to take your plate" so he was forced to take the remaining food in his hand. Not really good service and far too efficient, just felt like even though the restaurant was quiet, they were in a rush to get people out. I'm surprised this is a star restaurant and...
Read moreI am glad I came here after picking up my rental car in Caen. Both the food and service was excellent! I highly recommend checking this place out! The price was extremely fair for what you’re getting. I paid $29 euro for my lunch menu with 3 courses. Really can’t go wrong with that for sure! On top of the 3 course they gave us an extra 1 tiny appetitizer at the beginning and 1 tiny dessert at the end when you’re settling the bill. Also this restaurant has a 1 Michelin Star rating and definitely very well deserved star! It is a must go to restaurant if...
