Rest'ò bistro — Restaurant in Cahors

Never been made to look and feel so unwelcome and difficult in all my life of travelling the world.

It was Saturday morning, I was with my family and we wanted some breakfast coffees and maybe some light breads. We had walked around the local market and seen many cafes with people drinking their coffees. We found this place, which werhoight was a cafe qith food, sat down and ordered our coffees. I asked if he took cards as payment to which he said yes.

We looked around for some menu and could see what looked like a specials board. Full meals. We wanted some very light food. We decided to share 2 main courses between 4 of us as we weren't very hungry.

The waiter and what seemed like the owner went into melt down when I ordered just 2 dishes for 4 people. He pulled faces as if we were from another planet. Walked away. Making us feel very bad and uncomfortable. He did come back and say we could finish our drinks and leave. Which, given we weren't very hungry, we decided to do.

That wasn't the worst of it He continued his rude and obnoxious behaviour.

I got up to go and pay. I had already asked to pay by card when we ordered. His body language when I got my card out was again obnoxious and terrible. He the asked me "are you Dutch?". Even though we were all speaking English together and he spoke good English when he wanted to. This was no doubt a reference to the Dutch having a reputation for not wanting to pay for things. I just laughed, rather than call him the rude and obnoxious person I wanted to call him, and ruin my holiday. He then said "I think you are Dutch".

I started to walk out saying"I would say Thank You but I won't bother ". If my family had not bee with meI would have told him exactly what I thought of him.

None of us knew we had to eat a main course each. He could have told us when we sat down. He could have handled it in a far more pleasant way. He is right next to a major market in a major tourist cityso tjere will be many foreigners who "get it wrong". His attitudes stinks. I hope he does this to many more and people see what he is, starts to lose custom and goes bankrupt.

People are tourists. They may not know the custom or requirement. Yes, a business is to be run and money to be made. There is no need to be a rude, obnoxious...

Un bon accueil au début un dîner sympa en perspective,seulement prise un peu au dépourvu car je pensais que le service serait plus rapide ... Arrivée aux alentours de 19h40 je pensais (peut être naïvement) qu'à 20h55 le dîner prendrait fin car je devais partir ... A 20h30 le plat principal n'était pas encore dans mon assiette ... Lorsque j'ai expliqué que je devais partir plus tôt la charmante personne du début m'est devenue beaucoup moins sympathique ! Alors oui je n'avais pas pensé dire que j'étais tenu par le temps mais je pense qu'il est aussi important du côté pro d'informer à ses clients que le service sera plus long étant donné que c'est une soirée avec une formule grillade pour tout le monde. Monsieur ,je me suis excusée d'avoir oublié de vous dire que je devais être sortie avant 21h .Ensuite je vous ai demandé si je pouvais emporter mon repas ,vous m'avez dit ah non ,ici on ne fait pas ça ...donc j'ai rapidement mangé mon plat... ok...je n'ai donc pas pris mon dessert et j'ai accepté de payer la formule entièrement sans râler (il ne manquerai plus que ça, n'est ce pas? )Je vous ai même dit que je comprenais. Mais quand vous m'avez dit que vous étiez désolé mais que vous n'étiez pas magicien au moment de l'addition ,je ne vous en demandais pas tant , je reconnais mon oubli mais je vous ai trouvé très aigre à mon égard et un manque de tact évident de votre part quand j'ai payé, (j'avais qu'à dire que je devais partir plus tôt ...Donc ma petite dame c'est comme ça!) ... Déjà que j'étais très mal à l'aise j'ai été très déçue par...

Situated across the food hall is this little restaurant with a few tables outside. Smart to reserve a spot in advance, as a lot of people got turned away during our lunch here.
