We dined here twice this weekend as we visited Callais to catch up with family and La Buissonniére provided amazing food, a lovely atmosphere and the most fantastic hospitality Caroline was an amazing host alongside Claudine and François the chef! We had many amazing things to eat including the Scallops, Sweetbreads, Duck Taretare and the most exquisite Kidneys I’ve ever tried cooked in port. Then on the second day we were invited back to try the frogs legs, grilled turbot and to finish it off an amazing Crepe Suzette cooked over our very table Thank you so much for making us feel welcome, we look forward to returning to Calais and dining again very soon!

I had dinner at La Buissonnière in Calais. Although there were signs saying English was spoken, neither the waiter or waitress offered any assistance with the menu. The diners on the next 2 tables were all English, and between us, we used Google Len's to translate the menu into English. The food was superbly presented and tasted delicious. The service of the waiter was fantastic given how busy the restaurant was on that night. I was surprised that diners with dogs were allowed in, but they weren't near me or bothered me. The Roulades de Jambon was filling. I followed it with Bailey's cheese cake.

NOT TO BE TRUSTED...and hit n miss... So, we arrived at this quirky restaurant, which showed the promise of professionalism and that they know about food and what they are doing. I asked for a glass of dry white. The waitress poured it into a red wine glass and barely put any in. My was poured into my white wine glass and lasted a lot longer than the wine, sip wise. She was all talk, which rang my alarm bells even more! She was all smiles but quite in-genuine. The menu looked nice, as did the food on the photos.... She made a suggestion to me which I decided to take up. This was having a prawn and mushroom main course as a starter portion. It was okay, but the prawns were tough and chewy.... I asked what vegetables to expect, and she said 'vegetables!' So, along comes my main, with one mini coated carrot 🥕 and a few pickled vegetables designed to make the plate look pretty sitting on tiny blobs of cold sweet potato purée. The sole was nice enough but the mash was tasteless. My husband ordered chorizo & pepper croquettes for starter and steak for main which came with croquettes. These were sent back as they were cold. She told him to give them to her on a separate plate and replacements did not materialise. Pickled veg and tinned asparagus did. She suddenly disappeared and we were left with her mum. My husband is convinced his food was from frozen apart from the steak, which he enjoyed. Hence the hit n miss bit. What annoyed us further is when the bill came we were charged €7 for the mini wine and full price for the starter prawn 🍤! We questioned this but her mum was trying to convince herself she was right and turned and walked away! I think she convinced herself we would leave a tip too as our change was all in change. Another tactic to get more out of travellers. All in all a very disappointing end (in France) to a fabulous holiday in Belgium 🇧🇪 She was very dishonest and the food below par and THE MOST EXPENSIVE of our whole...

The food was good, the service - non-existant and rude. We were a group of 12 people. First we had to ask for water for 10 mins to receive only one pitcher. I asked for more and the lady said she will refill the one we have, bringing again only one. We also asked for bread (a few times before being served) and received 4 rolls - for 12 people again. We started asking the lady to come to us to take an order at 21.10, after asking for several times and coming to her counter personally to explicitly ask her to come over, she came at 21.30 - when we were ordering she was angry as some of us wanted starters + main dish and the others - just the main dish. She left without asking for drinks. Again, for 10 mins we had to beg her to come over and take order for wine. Then we were served our food at 22.40 and when we pointed out that the meat for the celeac guest was cooked with sauce (we specifically precised to add nothing to the meat) and asked her to change she got even angrier. Then at 23.00 we asked for deserts (again no motivation from their side to approach us) and got served at 23.30. We didn't ask for coffee as we were afraid to be served after midnight. All the service was done with an angry attitude and we felt...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this stunning restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The ambience was simply breathtaking, creating the perfect backdrop for a delightful culinary experience.

But what truly set this restaurant apart was the impeccable service. It was evident that the staff was dedicated to ensuring every guest felt welcomed and attended to with the utmost care. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the entire dining experience truly exceptional.

And then there was the food. Each mouthful was a true delight, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. It was evident that the chefs put a lot of thought and skill into every dish they presented. From appetizers to dessert, every bite was a culinary masterpiece.

I simply can't recommend this restaurant enough. Whether you're looking for a special night out or simply want to treat yourself to a fantastic meal, this place is a must-visit. It's a dining experience that will linger in your memory long after the last bite has...
