Oh Mouettes — Restaurant in Calais

It's the second time we come to Oh Mouettes in the past 2 months and I am now certain that it is a must-visit restaurant in Calais if you come from the UK and want to start your French gastronomic odyssey on a high, or if like us, you just want to add an hedonistic highlight to your daytrip. Of course, you should come for the seafood: Every dish is original, perfectly thought-through and the result always leaves me baffled on how interesting a classic seafood like prawns or scallops can become once it has been through the creative ideas of the chefs. From the subtle and refreshing "mise en bouche" to the succulent "Noix de St Jacques poêlées" and it's ever-moreish mushroom and pepper sauce. But to me, the desserts are taking the biscuit (haha!). I keep ordering the Crumble of sablé Breton with that astonishing caramel cream with salted butter that would make any Brittany top-chef green with envy. I have yet to try the others so I will need to come back, obviously... Oh and the service...

The food was very good, the presentation perfect. The atmosphere great, no loud music. The service was good on arrival but after the food arrived, was not quite as good as other visits. We weren’t asked if we needed anything else during the meal and when we wanted to get the bill, the two servers skilfully checked every other table in the room but didn’t look at us. We went to this restaurant on 16/9/2022, the manager is very friendly. good food compare to price is very good. at the end I forgot my handbag. the next day I call the restaurant and come back to get my handbag.
