Ô Fao — Restaurant in Calvi

Nice location in a beautiful part of the Citadel. Lovely atmosphere.

Not for tourists who do not speak french. Poor treatment from the staff who did no effort what so ever to communicate in English.

Comment: I will add an explanation to this review since the owner has answered.

If I remember correctly there was an English menu which we tried to point at but the waitress only said "no English" and kept speaking French. We never understood what she meant, perhaps she didnt understand what we pointed to at the English menu. At the same time she seemed quite ready to take orders coming to our table with a notepad and a pen.

This left ut quite surprised. Usually there isnt any problem if the staff doesnt speak the same language, you can try to point or use Google translate or just saying simple words and thats that.

So no, we didnt eat at the restaurant even though we wanted to. We simply didnt manage to order any food so we left. Hopefully this was only a misunderstanding but i believe this experience deserves a two...

We asked if we could sit down a waitress said that almost everything is reserved and sent us to a table which was very lonely and not very nice. Some minutes later some Italians came and just sat down at a table (which she said was reserved) and she did not tell them to move (they didn’t do the reservation) also earlier we heard them say „today is a very calm day“ in sense of not many restaurant guests. 18€ for an antipasto...

A beautiful little restaurant in the middle of the citadella in Calvi. We came across this place when exploring the citadella on a super hot day in july.
