L'Atelier — Restaurant in Carcassonne

Marcel and Petra are very friendly. We arrived early, however, Marcel is happy to host us. Whilst waiting for the lunch, Marcel brought us crackers to go with the wine. We ordered the Indonesian set for my family of 7. Marcel shared that in Amsterdam, there is a lot of Indonesian influence. They love Indonesian food and Marcel is a sommelier hence they decided to share their love for food and wine by opening the restaurant. It is a very cosy place, which is just opposite their home. The meal is hearty and tasty. The wines recommended by Marcel were very nice too! Marcel works with the local wineries and the wines he has paired very nicely with the food. Dinner tonight was at L’Atelier, a cozy little restaurant and wine bar right in the heart of Caunes-Minervois. It is small, artsy, and full of charm with just a few tables and a warm, welcoming vibe. • We went for the set menu: a few glasses of wine and three courses. After an over-the-top lunch, we meant to go light… but somehow still polished off a goat cheese salad, white asparagus, and delicious scallops. No regrets, it was all too tasty to resist. • We had some lovely chats with locals as the are very welcoming. Petra and Marcel catered our wedding and it was nothing short of fantastic. Several months later and our guests still rave about the food! They are both wonderfully warm and hospitable and really went out of their way to make our wedding exactly as we dreamed.

We also ate in L’Atelier which is beautifully decorated, with the perfect relaxed and informal atmosphere that makes you happily while away a whole evening. The food and wine are also of course exceptional, high quality, delicious and great value.

We can’t wait to return, hopefully for many years to come.
