Hippopotamus — Restaurant in Clermont-Ferrand

The first Saturday in August the place was absolutely heaving but we only had to wait 20min for a table. The servers were working really hard but Leny stood out with his happy, smiling and genuine service attitude. He did his best to make us feel not too neglected during our wait time. He kept checking we were ok and he was sorry about the delay, we could see he couldn't go any faster. Yes, we did have a 30min wait to order, but Leny still really made us feel welcome, valued and his care was appreciated. Delphine brought our drinks and even water for the dog, she was also charming and demonstrated exemplary customer care. These staff made up for anything else....

Stopped for one night at the Ibis next door on our way back to UK from Tenerife. Decided to try Hippopotamus after reading previous reviews and were not disappointed. The place was really busy so service did slow down but nothing to put us off the place. We were served by Nadia, who spoke excellent English, was smiling and friendly. Lovely demeanour. Food was really nice especially the chocolate mousse and the creme brulee. The wine, Chateau Gantonnet was excellent. Would definitely recommend but if you go on a Friday try and get in soon after 6.30 if you haven't...

Ne mérite même pas 1 étoiles... Endroit à fuir, longue attente pour le service , Apéritif très léger... recevoir des plats en épisodes c'est pas l'idéal quand on veux manger en famille.. chacun mange à son tour .. Arriver du plat de notre fille viande trop cuite et du coup sèche... nous avons dû demander après l'accompagnement sinon il n'allait jamais arrivé.. pareil pour le ketchup nous avons fini par nous lever pour aller le chercher nous même... Pour le plat de mon homme, aucun accompagnement... et viande pas très chaude... Et quand enfin mon plat est arrivé... une catastrophe.. des ribs totalement froid , nous avons fais venir le serveur pour le prévenir et il a remballer l'assiette en cuisine en ayant bien sûr toucher les ribs avec toute sa main pour vérifier la température super pour l'hygiène... quand l'assiette revient c'était cette fois chaud mais complètement cramé à voir sur la photo... du coup on m'a refait un ribs qui là a été servi chaud mais vraiment pas bon avec 2 minuscule pdt au four toute sèche car était présente depuis la première assiette servie et en plus super salée...

Et pour couronnée le tout la responsable Barbara avait dit : on va vous refaire les ribs madame et cela ne sera pas compté... donc pour moi quand on dis cela c'est que c'est un geste commercial et que c'est offert vu les problèmes occasionnée mais non pas du tout.... en faite elle a repointer un ribs sur le ticket et a enlever le premier qui n'a pas été consommer comme elle a dit.... du coup au final aucun geste commercial c'est une honte... Bref... Une vrai déception , n'y allé surtout pas dans ce hippopotamus !!!!
