La Courtine — Restaurant in Cognac

I have always had reservations about a restaurant that only serves cold starters and once again I was proven correct. The meal was a huge disappointment and I would seriously recommend looking elsewhere as you will come away feeling let down especially for the price.

The starters are only cold so are clearly prepared earlier. Potentially days earlier.

We then had the very expensive steak which were not cooked to how we asked them and the only additional item on the plate were potatoes that had very much been cooked at least a day before then reheated/cooked.

Even the steak knives wasn't sharp enough to cut the steaks! We did not have a dessert.

Easy to book online and confirmation email received quickly. Normally we visit in the summer and sit on the terrace with the views of the Charente. As cooler weather we sat inside. Lovely atmosphere. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food is well cooked and presented. We have never had any issues with the service or quality of the food. The cost for three course meal, wine and coffee is very good value. The main menu does not change which is great for consistency of the quality of the food.Although they do have dishes of the day.
