What a wonderful restaurant experience! First of all, walking up to the restaurant is a magical experience on its own. The property and building is draped in charm and beauty. Set in a quaint French Alsatian village with quintessential Alsatian architecture— you walk into a fairytale.
Secondly, but importantly, the pizza is divine. We have had various pizzas from the Basilique menu and were in love with each of them. The head chef/owner has mastered a true honoring to the Neapolitan-style pizza. Our family adores pizza and this is the first restaurant in France we’ve finally found that truly exemplifies the qualities in our perfect pizza. The wines were some of the best we’ve had. Each aspect of our meal was truly exceptional.
Thirdly, however nevertheless, the service is warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. We had our 6 month old baby with us and they provided us immediately with a baby seat for a dining chair which worked so perfectly to help us enjoy our meal together. We were well taken care of.
Needless to say, we will be back and highly...
Read moreAll in all we had a great evening with delicious food, attentive service and a cozy atmosphere. The pizzas are one of the best we have eaten anywhere and easily rival even the best ones from Italy. The waiters seemed a bit "distant" in some situations, which didn't fit the otherwise really cozy atmosphere, but that might just be due to our not-so-great french or the evening being quite busy. That didn't really impact the evening in a negative way though, so we would recommend a visit if you like great Italian food. Prices are not cheap, but the food is definitely worth it in...
Read moreIn summary: pizza and wine is of top quality and there’s no doubt about it. However, the place is not child-friendly and our overall experience was affected by it (hence a 3-star rating)
We went two days in a row in a group o 6 (two couples and two 3year old children). Our experience when it comes to the service wasn’t great especially the second time, when we felt quite unwelcome especially by the male waiter (could be the boss/owner of the place) who, for example, reprimanded our children (and us) for … mixing different kind of stones in the yard (…really? 🙂). We understand that not every place has to be family-friendly and Basilique is just not one of them. Therefore we want to leave this warning to parents of small children who are considering to visit this place with otherwise amazing pizza paired...
