Don't stay in this hotel unless the only thing you do there is spending the night. The rooms are ok but everything else is absolutely terrible. My work colleagues and me stayed for a seminar for 4 nights. We do this sort of trip every year but this hotel was the worst I've been to. Each time you go to the bar you end up looking for the bar staff. If they showed up at all they left before everybody was able to order a drink. In general staff were extremely arrogant and the service was absolutely terrible. The red wine was served very cold which really puts the country of wine to shame. The food was usually served on unheated plates and therefore ended up in front of us cold too. Was it to match the wine? At one point I even got a raspberry with mold on it. This shouldn't happen in a 4 star hotel. I'm a vegetarian and we paid for a package that includes a vegetarian menu. What I got was the fish menu with the fish removed, so I ended up with dry rice and a little bit of vegetables and that for several meals in a row. The manager said it's done on purpose to "give my colleagues and me the same food experience". Then she snarled at me: "You don't eat fish, you don't eat meat, so what do you eat?". After I listed some vegetarian menus she claimed that because I don't eat fish I'm a vegan and not a vegetarian which is (a) disagrees with the common dictionary definition (those would be called "pescetarians") and (b) really doesn't matter what label I use. I'm not eating fish or animal flesh which I ended up having to explain at every lunch / dinner during our stay. There were some nice people at the reception and one nice waitress which were the exception to the rule and I think they genuinely felt bad for us. We really left wondering how on earth this hotel got such a good rating and - to our surprise - seems to be very well booked. I can just recommend you to stay away...
Read moreI don't know the European standard for 4 stars but in other parts of the world this is def not the same! This hotel is not only away from the city center (about 10 min with car) as well as you cannot walk there like in other European villages. So unless you have a car don't come. The room we booked was the simple one which seemed to have come out of an old depressing movie. They claim to have ac but it's only a fan blowing a little cooler stuffy air which doesn't cool the room at all! The carpet and sheets were dirty and the lamp didn't work. We complained and the manager was very nice to give us a new room. It looked better and newer as well as it had working a/c, however we were told this was a superior room. Upon closer inspection we found SEVERAL hairs and body hair all over the sheets and bathroom floor. I am definitely not the clean freak and wouldn't freak out about 1 hair but a bed full of them was a shock. Also do not come here if you're allergic to dust like me. The hotel is covered in medieval times carpet which hasn't been vaccumed in ages. The rooms loom very modern on the photos but I guess if you don't pay for the expensive rooms you'll get to stay on a...
Read moreThe whole restaurant was completely booked for the next two nights, not one single place available when we arrived. Although we were travelling more than 500km to eat at the „Hotel et Restaurant L’Europe“ we now have to drive to a restaurant outside (nearest restaurant is in the neighbour city 7 km away = 40€ per night for a taxi only!!!). I never had that in any even two stars hotel before, that no seat was available in the restaurant. At day 3 and 4 we could eat in the restaurant and it‘s really good. Not big portions, more the good cuisine - high quality instead of quantity. Breakfast also is o.k.
The hotel bar is rarely available-with luck the lady from the reception calls a colleague, today she was busy with something so we left after 15 minutes of waiting as we didn‘t wanted to ask again whether we could get something to drink.
The reading lamp at my bed is not repaired 3 days after reporting the issue to the service desk.
The wellness area has not seen any update the last 14 years and you see some rust here and there.
That‘s disappointing as we had a better stay in this hotel 14 years ago.
Guys-you want to be a 4 star hotel - just akt...
