Bistrot Pilote — Restaurant in Dinan

Stumbled across this restaurant on our trip down to the port. Sounded amazing when the guy translated the menu for me, so we went for it! We weren’t disappointed, it was amazing!!! Beautiful walled garden at the back, lovely setting. We were able to take the dog in with us, we got an actual decent, full sized, clean (modern & safe) high chair for our 9 month old son - something we have found hard to come by travelling around France for the last month. They also cooked some chicken breasts & rice for the kids (nearly 3 year old daughter and baby) - again this was wonderful as nearly all the kids menus we’ve encountered have been beige, deep fried foods like nuggets and chips!!! Well done for being different and supportive of families dining out!! The staff spoke excellent English - which really helped as our French needs serious work. We read the amazing reviews for this place and we’re lucky enough to be able to walk in early on a Wednesday evening and get a table without a reservation - but we were the only ones able to do so. The restaurant was otherwise completely fully booked and we would strongly recommend booking this place in advance! The hosts were very friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, and the service impeccable. The diners seemed a mixture of French and English. The menu is written in French only, but the waitress will happily answer any questions (and Google Translate worked a treat!) The place was beautifully decorated and the ambience cosy and warm. A well run team, food superb, hot plates, clean utensils, and clearly the owners care about the customers and their business. Made to feel valued. Owner / chef comes out into restaurant to see if all okay.

It was all good but the creme brulee was one of best ever had in over 35 years in France......

interior decor lovely, clean toilets. Highly recommend as eaten in many restaurants in and around dinan and this is a must return to place.
