We visited Le Surfing at Estagnots, Seignosse several times during our two week stay in Hossegor. The whole team there are super friendly, and the food is superb. Great for breakfast, lunch (my son especially loved the halloumi fries and the barrel bowls are really good!), and dinner (the sharing dishes, Lamb or Dorade are amazing).
I have to say I’m a bit surprised by some comments in reviews about service and price. Firstly, the service is great - super attentive and friendly. Yes there are a couple of younger waiting staff who are being trained - but that’s the same in every restaurant of this nature. Don’t come to a surf-vibe, chilled out, intimate, relaxing venue and expect a Michelin starred experience. They all care, and show it! The pricing is spot on, in its locality. Fantastic location, steps from the beach in a prime location 5 minutes from Lac d’Hossegor.
One some nights they have live music, the stage is well done in the restaurant, so book a table and enjoy your food whilst watching and listening to great live acts with a fantastic atmosphere. No out of control “drunks”, a safe enjoyable environment with everyone having fun.
I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s my 15 year old son’s favourite place to be - and my wife and I love it. Often families at lunchtime with younger kids who are all welcomed by what comes across to us as a “family” owned restaurant.
Go - you won’t be disappointed!!
Final note - thanks Basil and the whole team - you have a big impact on our holiday every year we come to enjoy...

We tried Le Surfing again. Pros this time were an absolutely fantastic singer/guitarist doing live music, and some helpful flexibility when it came to a mistake with our reservation (our error). The food was also very well prepared.
But unfortunately the dining experience was almost exactly repeated. A very long wait for drinks and food once ordered, and various peoples’ orders came at very staggered intervals, such that among our party some were starting their main courses as other only just received their first drinks. A couple of items never came, and we had to comb through the bill to remove charges for those. Once again the staff were friendly but the overall level of service was poor. No one acknowledged the shambolic delivery and unlike the previous visit we weren’t compensated in any way.
—- Original review:
Pros: They mix a mean cocktail, and the food was of a generally good standard. Most staff are friendly.
Cons: The service was very, very slow. Our order was twice “lost”. Food first arrived to the table over an hour after we had ordered it. Well intentioned but insufficient restitution came in the form of a gratis bottle of wine and a discount on our cocktails.
Our wait was also sweltering; ceiling fans wouldn’t go amiss.
By all means go for one of their great Patron margaritas, but for a meal I recommend the better-run establishments...
Read moreI went with my partner on the weekend. We ordered the veg. pulled pork. It was made from jackfruit. Honestly, tastewise it wasn’t bad, it had some nice flavors, considering the price however really overpriced. We also ordered some side dishes (shashuka, green beans, cabbage salad) which were rather disappointing. The shashuka didn’t have any spices on (which is usually the case when you eat it in oriental restaurants) and the egg was raw (I guess depends on your taste if that’s ok or no go). Then the beans had equally no taste; and the cabbage salad was not marinated long enough (super hard still). We also ordered cocktails that were good tastewise, even though the one I took with beet root was tasting too strongly like the rum and the beet root taste didn’t come through. The service was very nice! And the ambience was good as well, sometimes the music was too loud tho and the day we went it was just super hot, nearly unbearable (and there were no fans). All in all, also considering other vegetarian dishes we had in other restaurants, it was ok, not the worst, but definitely not worth the money. They could definitely make more use of spices to make their dishes...
