Our recent visit to the restaurant situated just a stone's throw away from Estagnols Beach was nothing short of delightful. As a family, we were seeking a place to unwind and savor delicious meals after a day of sun and sand, and this charming establishment exceeded our expectations.

For the second summer running Shelter has been the best dining experience we’ve had in Hossegor/Seignosse. They are welcoming and the service seems effortless. So much better and more relaxed than the made-for-Instagram places in town. And the food is still generally excellent.

We ate at Shelter several times in one week. Compared to other nearby spots they’re welcoming, efficient and skilled at hospitality. The proprietress was delightful, and our usual waiter (tall dude, shaggy hair— never got his name) was superb. All of the other staff were also friendly. It’s evident that they’re well treated and enjoy their jobs— this makes a huge difference. Shelter is relaxed and fun, with a simple but chic ambience.

Déco et ambiance du site agréable, cependant, l’accueil et le service ne sont pas à la hauteur de l’attente des clients. Le jugement sur l’apparence est de mise, étant touristes et décontractés, nous étions parfaitement présentables (polo- bermudas shino pour mon mari, chemise-bermuda shino pour notre fils et petit haut-short pour ma part), nous avons été extrêmement déçu. Le cendrier céramique nous a été enlevé pour la table d’à côté et nous nous sommes retrouvé avec un cendrier en métal ce qui ne nous pose pas de soucis mais sans nous parler…ensuite à savoir que si vous n’embrassez pas la patronne en arrivant vous ne serrez placé qu’en dernier même si vous avez réservé! La responsable ne pouvait nous accueillir que jusqu’à 19h30 et pas possible pour 20h: ok nous étions à l’heure et installé à 19h55!!! En ce qui concerne le repas, cela n’a rien d’extraordinaire, c’est bon mais pas non plus explosif au niveau gustatif! Relativement cher d’ailleurs pour une soupe 🧐 de pâtes chinoise! Au départ du service, ils ont voulu nous enlever nos apéros alors qu’on n’avait pas terminé, pour notre fils qui est habitué à aller au restaurant, la serveuse lui a limite « balance » le bâtonnet de glace sans lui demander le choix du parfum sur la table, toujours sans nous parler. On s est vraiment senti comme une gêne dans ce restaurant, par contre lorsque mon mari a sorti sa carte « gold » étrangement, la responsable a changé de tête et ne lui a pas posé de question savoir comment cela c’était passé!!!!!! Même être poli, ils ne savent pas, à moins qu’elle eut craint la réponse! Surtout, même si vous trouvez la cadre superbe, ne vous laissez pas surprendre par la médiocrité des prestations. Moralité: ne jamais juger les apparences!!!! A 21h nous étions en voiture avec une amertume de notre soirée et une certaine indignation qui nous donne envie de remonter cette expérience dans les guides culinaires et touristiques.
