Le Cesar — Restaurant in Draguignan

I would have given the restaurant a 5 star but I was disappointed in their menu presentation. They had these beautiful menu’s all in French with beautiful binders really classy and then when we asked for an English menu we got a double sided laminated paper menu how disappointing!! It was rather tacky to have such a nice restaurant with this beautiful waterfront setting and such a lousy menu for the American tourist. Granted we are not French but we are still paying to eat here. The food was amazing but menu presentation really turned me off. I recommend the restaurant if you read and speak French fluently. If you are looking for a good steak with fries, go somewhere else. Fries from the supermarket taste better (they actually tasted like fries from the supermarket), the sauce was as liquid as a soup, and the meat was overcooked (we ordered medium). We returned the dish and were still charged since we "didn't accept a new one". Am I forced to eat a bad meal twice? Any decent restaurant would simply take the criticism and not charge the client for a bad meal and experience, but the staff of Le César decided that giving us a ridiculous (9 euros) discount was enough. We tried to argue, but the staff pointed out that we had some bites before returning the dish. Unreal. We ate here after the staff were kind enough to move tables around to fit customers outside. I mention this as we were turned away from several other restaurants beforehand. The staff were thoughtful and helpful. It is however the food that is the main attraction here! We took the 3 course menu & had aubergine verrine and salmon to start, both were extremely tasty, refreshing & interesting. Then we had beef with vegetables, not fries!!
