If you are a vegan or vegetarian trying to find delicious, healthy food for you in the area, do not think about heading anywhere else! The Sartaj's food is a rare find in France, authentic and well-cooked Indian cuisine at a VERY reasonable price. I am used to Indian food having stayed in India for many years. Indian restaurateurs here tend to offer greasy, fake Indian food that will often make you sick for 3 times this price. It was quite amazing to find this small place in Gap. The food is just near perfection. I recommend the Matter Pillau, if you want to stay away from fats. It is steamed and heas no oil in it. Their biryani is one of the least greasy I ever had. I love their Baigan Bharta and Palak Paneer, but I would especially recommend the Dal, one of the best I ever had. I think I can say the quality would be equivalent to about a well known street vendor is southern India. The service is great, the woman does all she can to understand you and serve you quickly. The price is, once again, incredibly cheap. I usually stuff my face and drink a lot in this restaurant and I never paid over 17 euros. Only one thing to mention, the very close proximity with other tables as well as the annoyingly small table space. If you are 2 people sitting at the same table and ordering different options, you will run into difficulties. Last time we places the wine on the bench next to my boyfriend. It can be slightly annoying, and for that reason I recommend going as a party of 3 people and getting a table for 4, it would probably solve...
