I’d done all the heavy lifting and found myself at a place I stumbled on through Google recommendations. One review boldly claimed it was the best croissant in France, an outlandish statement, but enough to earn it a spot on my list.

Tucked away in the backstreets of Juan-les-Pins, it felt less like a boulangerie and more like a one-woman pâtisserie. The shop was quietly understated, with two charming, smiling staff and a counter showcasing a dazzling array of tarts, chocolates, and sweets.

I ordered a croissant and a pain au chocolat to carry with me. I took my haul down to Port de l’Olivette, feeling accomplished after two days of my croissant quest, ready for this final stop.

The moment I opened the bag, excitement rushed in. The croissant looked perfectly proportioned, not oversized, not underdone. The aroma alone told me this was of a different calibre. The first bite confirmed it: crisp, delicate flakes giving way to moist, buttery layers that melted across the palate. Each mouthful was better than the last, all the ratios perfectly in tune.

This was a true contender, a croissant that didn’t just satisfy but delighted, leaving me grinning as I imagined sharing this discovery...

De passage à Juan je connaissais cette pâtisserie qui est en face d’un de mes clients. La semaine dernière je suis entrer pour acheter un pain au chocolat !!! Quelle bonne idée j’ai eu !! Un vrai délice ! Ce pain au chocolat m’a renvoyé 40 ans en arrière !!! Le goût, la qualité, la texture, la qualité ! Absolument parfait ! Cela faisait bien longtemps que je n’avais pas eu le plaisir de mordre dans un tel pain au chocolat ! J’y suis immédiatement retourné pour renouveler le plaisir et le lendemain, même chose. Cet endroit est pour moi LA référence ! Oubliez les autres boulangeries avec leur viennoiserie graisseuse et pleine de vide, sans grande saveur pour la plupart. Prenez-le temps d’aller essayer le palais de la Friandise et je peux vous assurer que vous ne voudrez plus aller ailleurs !!! Un grand merci à ce boulanger pour son remarquable travail !
