A complete disappointment from beginning to end.
I really don't write bad reviews easily, but this place was so thoroughly bad that I feel I need to give others a health warning. I honestly cannot fathom how this restaurant can have such a high average score and I am tempted to say that you can only get away with such mediocracy in the Côte d'Azur. I would like to meet the Michelin writer who decided to put this place in the guide. I was even tempted to write that the chef couldn't even place Peru on a map, let alone pretend to be from there, but then I just saw on the restaurant's website that he actually IS Peruvian. The only possible explanation I can find is that he must be on holiday. I just had the worst meal of our 8 day roadtrip along the Route Napoléon and undoubtedly one of the worst of my entire life. I have no issue paying up for a quality meal, but this place offers dire value for money, high prices for poor food. In fairness, the quality of the raw material is good, they just make a complete hash of the preparation. Everything from the pisco sour based Peru cocktail to the bitter ceviche (I've never seen anyone mess up a leche de tigre to this degree), the overcooked, jammy mushrooms to the overly liquid bernaise (served with the quiet good homemade fries, in their defence - 8 euro supplement...) was atrocious. Meat was good, but then again you'd have to be a real amateur to mess up a good cut of beef). The Italian couple at the table next to us seemed equally disappointed. We'll forgive them for putting us at one of the worst tables in the room despite the advance booking and the fact that the restaurant wasn't full. I can live with that. I guess they reserve the best tables for the locals, understandably. But I won't surprise anyone when I say that we won't be coming back. Not...
Read moreOur lunch experience was just fantastic. All dishes were presented like art and every bite is an explosion of flavour in your mouth.
Sorry I didn't get your name. The tall guy who spoke well in English was so helpful in providing recommendations and explaining the unique points of the menu to us. He was very attentive in checking up on us as well.
We had the Focaccia & Veau De Lait (Rosemary focaccia with veal tartare) and Tonno Vitellato (mediterranean red tuna tataki style) for starters. The veal was so tender and in a huge pile on the focaccia bread, making every bite feel full and juicy. What was in the dollops of sauce for the red tuna? It reminded me of hummus, a rich savouriness and went so well with the fish.
For mains, we shared a rumsteck (rump steak) of 450g (meant for 2 persons) from the special menu of steaks for the day. Cooked medium rare, it was one of the best steak meals I've had in my life. The outer crust of the steak was packed with flavour, and with the simple olive oil and garlic sauce, it went down smoothly.
The ambiance is peaceful and beautiful. The terrace/patio seating has a view of the rolling hills dotted with villas in the distance, with the cool breeze of early autumn to keep you cool. The restaurant interior is charming in its decoration, spacious and...
Read moreWe live in Mougins so visit this restaurant from time to time. As always the food was excellent however I do think the overall standard in this restaurant has declined since were last here (Feb 2025): Before we ordered there were a few crisp type "things" placed in the middle of our table most of which were broken so we had a fact a plate of crumbs instead of olives or something more appropriate given the cost of the food here. My wife prefers fish and the only single cut of meat on the board was gone so my meat options were very limited. Why are so many of the cuts to be shared between 2 or 3? I'm sure we not the only couple in this situation. Chocolates that are normally presented as a parting gift were presented before were offed desert or coffee. Were we being asked to leave? Finally we asked from the bill and the waiter brought the bill and stood hovering by the table with his card reader in hand. I had to ask him to go away so I had time to look at the bill without him looking over my shoulder. Overall a...
