Charlot 1er — Restaurant in Grasse

We were reccommended this restaurant by locals. We arrived at a busy time, so that the waiters barely acknowledged our presence and interest of taking a seat. The hosts also did not show any interest of giving us a seat after waiting 5min. We should have left by then but unfortunately we didnt. We got a seat inside because outside was already full. The customer service is litteraly a catastrophe. Every single one of the waiters were rude to us, took our plates away too early, made funny faces when we ordered something new and put us under pressure to finish eating in order to close the restaurant on time. In the end the bill was incorrect, they charged us with too much wine. There was no apology from anyone. Throughout the whole evening we did not feel welcome for one second. this really ruined the mood. The food was pretty okay but everything else just ruined it. As a tourist I definitely would NOT recommend to go there, because you'll be treated as a peasant! Service like this at this price range should be illegal. Oh dear … I hate giving a damming review but we did give the Resturant a second chance as indeed mistakes can happen BUT it only got worse. On the first evening we were over changed by €30 on the wine we were served - bill was corrected by Madam but no apologizes no smile no nothing! Ok, we gave Charlotte 1 a second go three nights later … explained to Madam that my husband would like a small grilled fish as he eats very little and a big plate of food would put him off - Madam appeared to understand and suggested we share a Loup - not what I had planned for myself but hey she was making an effort to accommodate his request so one very nice cooked fish was presented and taken away to be filleted and returned - one half each small but fine …. All good until the bill arrived - clear as day 2 Loup 78 €!!! I went into the restaurant and told Madam that we had been charged for two fish when very clearly we had one … no go … we left … madam needs to be removed from her front of house role & perhaps placed in jail for day light robbery … just...

I used to visit regularly when I worked in V.Loubet and we had something to celebrate. I visited with my wife and the quality of the seafood was simply outstanding in my view ...best oysters (No1) I have had in a restaurant for many years, sole cooked to perfection and served with a wonderful mash potato, which seems easy but this mash was at a new high level in my opinion plus a Tomato Provencal that my wife and I enjoyed. My wife had the home made fois gras and the Daurade which she usually orders at any fish restaurant but she thought this was very special and fresh. The negatives were the price whch was not cheap, the noise of the traffic as it is near the main road, the pollution from the cars and the service was professional but slow. It took the server 15 minutes to take the fish off the bone. However those things apart it is difficult to get fresher seafood. I would go again for sure and there is a parking place behind the restaurant that is...
