Il Grande — Restaurant in Grasse

We visited this restaurant today and were truly impressed by the beautiful location. The setting is absolutely stunning, with a gorgeous interior and a lovely atmosphere and it really feels special.

The food was also very enjoyable. We had the pasta with vongole and mussels, and the Milanese both dishes were delicious. We also ordered oysters, which were fresh and nicely presented.

However, the service unfortunately didn’t quite match the high standard of the food and the surroundings. There were a few small but important details that were missed. For example, the seafood pasta was served without a separate bowl for the shells, and the oysters came without forks or a spoon for the vinegar. My husband requested extra mashed potatoes with his dish, but they didn’t arrive until much later, after he had already finished his meat.

Drinks also took quite a while to arrive, and it felt like the staff weren’t always well coordinated or on the same page. Everyone was friendly, but there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of service and attention to detail.

With such a fantastic location and great food, we really hope the service will grow to match this place has a lot...

I visited last week and didn’t have a great experience. The food itself was nice enough (nothing overly special, except their desserts!) but the atmosphere left me disappointed.

In particular, everything felt rushed- there are so many tables (too many) meaning the staff came across as stressed when serving me. I felt that service lacked in all areas- for the money I would expect attentiveness and kindness but instead didn’t feel welcome.

For example, I had an unpleasant experience with a member of staff who didn’t look up at me when I asked where the toilets were, and ignored me for some time before bothering to respond with a terse reply before walking off quickly.

The interior decor was great. Overall, I wouldn’t visit again. I unfortunately can’t recommend visiting to others but would suggest that you’re likely to have a better experience if you’re a larger group (I was a couple) and they think you’ll be big...
