**Review of La Tannerie in Grasse, France** La Tannerie, nestled in the heart of Grasse, France, is a culinary gem that beautifully marries the charm of the Provençal landscape with a delightful dining experience. This restaurant, housed in a former tannery, offers not only a unique ambiance but also a menu that reflects the rich flavors of the region. Upon entering La Tannerie, guests are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor, featuring exposed stone walls, wooden beams, and vintage accents, creates a cozy yet elegant setting. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with both indoor and outdoor seating options that allow diners to enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding hills and gardens. The outdoor terrace, especially during the warmer months, is a perfect spot to savor a meal while basking in the Provençal sun. The menu at La Tannerie is a celebration of local ingredients, showcasing the best that the region has to offer. The chefs take pride in sourcing fresh produce, meats, and seafood from local markets and farms, ensuring that each dish is not only delicious but also reflective of the area’s culinary heritage. Seasonal offerings mean that the menu is always evolving, allowing for a unique dining experience with every visit. One standout dish is the ratatouille, which is prepared with a perfect balance of vegetables, herbs, and spices. The flavors are vibrant and true to the traditional recipe, making it a must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant. Another highlight is the grilled lamb, which is tender and flavorful, served with a side of locally sourced vegetables that complement the dish beautifully. For seafood lovers, the catch of the day, often grilled to perfection, is a testament to the chefs' skill and attention to detail. The wine list at La Tannerie is equally impressive, featuring a curated selection of local wines that pair perfectly with the menu. The knowledgeable staff is always on hand to offer recommendations, ensuring that every meal is complemented by the ideal vintage. Service at La Tannerie is attentive without being intrusive. The staff is friendly and well-informed, ready to guide diners through the menu and make suggestions based on individual preferences. This level of service enhances the overall dining experience, making guests feel welcomed and valued. Desserts at La Tannerie are not to be missed. The homemade pastries and seasonal fruit tarts are delightful endings to a wonderful meal. The lemon tart, in particular, is refreshingly light and perfectly balanced, leaving a lasting impression. In summary, La Tannerie in Grasse, France, is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Provençal dining experience. With its charming ambiance, seasonal menu, and excellent service, it captures the essence of the region’s culinary culture. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, dining at La Tannerie promises to be a memorable experience that celebrates the flavors of the South of France.

We chanced our luck on the first night of The Jasmine Festival in Grasse by rocking up just before 9pm having not booked and we were lucky as they fitted us in with no problems, 1 other couple after us were also lucky but after then they shut after an obviously busy festival day. My advice is to book if you want delicious good value meals in a great historic setting (look up the tanning and perfume links for Grasse). We just had mains plus drinks and my wife’s first taste of Sea Bream did not dissapoint and my “Butchers Cut” steak cooked to the chefs liking (prolly medium rare to rare in uk standards) was utterly divine and defo in my top 5 of steaks ever (and this includes some famous chefs steaks who are not in that top 5). Pretty sure it was Flat Iron and you do have to know how to get the best out of that cut for sure and they do here. The bill for two mains, prosecco and good Provencal rose came to €51. Try and get those two meals and drinks in a UK tourist hot spot restaurant, or even a gastro pub for that matter for that price of circa £46.50.

Quiet restaurant tucked away from the crowds in Grasse shopping center. Seated quickly, only 2 waiters managing lunch so they were running around. Sea bream entree was delicious and paired well with the white wine (which the waiter graciously poured extra into the glass).

The square with live music is lovely but we unfortunately had bad service and the food was not grand. On the one hand, the quiet, romantic square with the pink umbrellas and live piano was a welcome respite. On the other, they seemed understaffed and made an error on our order which delayed main courses by about 30 minutes, and then did not make a commercial gesture of any kind. The steaks, fritto misto, wine selection and fleurs de courgette were sub par. The goat cheese salad and pesto pasta were quite good, though the latter overly oily. We will come back as the...
