Disappointed. Based on the reviews, we thought this would be a chill place to spend the evening for food & drinks. But when we got there the atmosphere was anything but chill. The single waiter was stressed out and impatient when we asked questions about the food before ordering-- not a big deal, but not exactly the friendly atmosphere the place seems to advertise.
It was a Tuesday and we ordered tacos, wings and a couple drinks. We got our drinks pretty fast, but the cocktails were very small--most of the small glass was just ice--and tasted like syrupy sugar water. I know it's Antibes, so we weren't expecting American-sized cocktails for 8 euro :) Really, the size would not have been an issue- we would have gladly ordered more while we waited for our food if they had tasted better and weren't so watered down.
We then waited 30 minutes to get our food. The 5 euro taco was not worth it--- really small and nothing special. No big deal, it's our fault for ordering a taco in France, we thought, but at least the wings should be good. We had asked for the wings extra hot & spicy-- 5 on a scale of 5-- but when we got them they were were not spicy at all.
Disappointed and unsatisfied, we paid the bill and left to go to a different place to get food & drinks for the evening.
Nice idea-- and maybe it was just a bad night --but in our case the execution...
Read moreBeware if you touch the sauce bar! It’s apparently just for show unless you order fries. Even then, you’re grudgingly allowed a thimble-sized dab — watched intently and uncomfortably by the owner, who glared at me as I squeezed out a small portion. Is this a war zone? I just handed over my hard-earned cash for my food, yet this guy literally accosted me, questioned if I’d ordered fries when I hit the sauce bar. Seriously? I’m one of two customers in the entire place. He took my order mintues prior and handed me my dry-as-hell sandwich — clearly no fries involved, which I dodged on purpose as a result of my previous visit! His response? “Sauces are only for fries.” Umm, what!? Unbelievable! He acts like he’s the paying customer here. The mac and cheese was dry, the coleslaw flavorless — total letdown. Following the sauce bar, Poland 1939 “Papers please!” moment, I’d have demanded a refund if they hadn’t started cooking my meal. The sauce bar nonsense was that off-putting. “Avoid this place!” is what I’ll think when walking by in the future unless I’m willing to watch the owner squirm into conniptions over a few cents’ worth of flavor in a feeble attempt to bring a bit of flavor to a bland grilled cheese mess of...
Read moreTricky one this! The food, the restaurant and atmosphere were all great. The food was really tasty. However, the portions were small - particularly the toasties. Bit weird as it claims to be an American restaurant - if the portions were served in America there would be uproar! I wouldn't expect American portions (appalling!) but a little more would be better. Our teenagers left hungry. We would have liked more food but as it was busy we couldn't stay and order a bit more. Pulled pork roll was delicious but tiny. Feels greedy to order 2 but...
