Restaurant L'Azur — Restaurant in Grasse

We went in and asked for a table for two. It was a warning when I saw the waitress cleaning our table with a soggy cloth. But we wanted to give it a try and we were tired and hungry. We put our order but we had to ask if the mixed grill plates comes with side dishes. When we asked the waitress told us that it comes with vegetables, we wanted to change to French fries. The food was served very unappealing and it was a pile of different fish grilled covered with soggy oily vegetables. The salmon was carbonised and dry as well the tuna and shrimps, the two miniature scallops were soggy and tasteless. Worst was the fries - a handful of soggy oily broken potato pieces which looked like rests from another table. We left all the food on the plate and I asked for the bill and told the waitress that the food was under all critique. She rolled her eyes and said that all other guests live their food. She took my plate to a table and showed to the man sitting there - presumably the owner. He didn’t even looked at us. I payed the bill and when we left we saw the staff laughing. I went in and told the chef, that this was my worst dining ever. Not fit the money! €64 for two plates is too expensive , but no problem. I am sad and frustrated that they could spoil our evening and vacation. Poor chef tried to convince me that the food was good. He even showed me the pieces of salmon - not a pleasant sight! Previously frozen fish which looked not appetising. I cannot understand why they serve frozen salmon when the sea is twenty meters from the restaurant. Worst was the staffs disparaging treatment and degrading attitude towards the guest who are actually paying their salaries. Avoid and try to find the place where locals eats. I will never set my food in this place, nor in any other restaurant on the strand promenade. Shane for the French gastronomy...

Réponse à Mme Sabine Maggio et après, je réitère mon commentaire ! Premièrement, c'est pas en répondant sur ce ton que vous allez garder votre clientèle ou du moins, votre patron. Je vous demanderai à ce propos d'effacer votre commentaire qui attaque directement sur le physique d'une personne,ce qui est strictement interdit. Deuxièmement, je signe et persiste dans mon commentaire et encore,je n'ai rien dit sur l'hygiène de votre restaurant mais il y a pas de soucis, on va jouer. Réponse de la blondasse frustrée,les 2 tables voisines des nôtres sont partis à cause de votre service trop long,la saleté de la chaise haute pour leur enfant et j'en passe ! Au bout de 2h d'attente, ils n'étaient pas encore servis ! Vous savez,entre clients, en attendant d'être servis, on discute! Mon beau-frère, face à la cuisine, vous voyait en panique totale, des clients se plaindre,et vous, vous vous attaquez au physique! Je me rabasserais pas à faire de même mais je vous félicite pour votre réponse donnée à des locaux et à des personnes qui sont venues une bonne dizaine de fois dans votre restaurant. N'oubliez pas Monsieur ou Madame qu'il n'y a pas que des touristes de passage qui vous font vivre. Plat amené sans garnitures, les serveuses ne savent pas la cuisson de la viande et quand on leur demande, on se fait engueuler pour parler poliment. Mesdames,si servir des clients vous dérange,changer de métier. Je continue, hamburger amener brûler, puis , à la deuxième présentation, ramener avec le brûler juste gratter, réponse du responsable, je sais pas ce qui se passe en cuisine ! Hamburger amener sans son dessus,etc. Il a fallu hausser le ton pour se faire servir à peu près correctement. Un conseil, fuyez ! It is very sad that long-time friendly waiter Nage has retired, and his colleague Giovanni has returned to Italy. These two were great characters who always gave regulars a warm welcome and a personal service. The new staff are efficient but aloof, and could be friendlier. This is not a four star restaurant. It is a brasserie that serves nice food at reasonable prices, on the promenade with great views of the Mediterranean. It is popular with locals and tourists alike.
