People seem to love this place, so my partner and I had high hopes when we came for dinner. The menu sounds enticing , full of regional delights like Raclette, trout and chicken (poule au pot). The staff are lovely, the food, however is not. It is all warmed up and seemingly bathed in the same creamed based sauce. My bf had the roast ‘organic chicken’ which turned out to be a meagre anaemia looking leg in cream morelle mushroom crème best described as slimed in the stuff. This came with a large plate of gratin dauphinois, huge and far too big for one but obviously warmed up so dry and ironically un saucy. It tastes ok. It wasn’t great. I had rhe traditional ‘ravioles’ with soft goat’s cheese filling anf morelle sauce ( yes, same again folks!). Thé ravioles come submerged in the stuff, which is ok if you’re not worried about instant angina. That’s not the problem. The problem was how over heated they were, obviously cooked ages before and clumsily stuck in an over so the top layer was burned and crunchy. Not good. We weren’t expecting great things: we starting with the porc ‘snacking’ treat. Basically a tennis ball-sized meat ball presented on a hot dish, hot being an understatement given it was skin singing . The ball itself was stone cold in the middle. We cut it open and spat it out. Strangely, when we complained about it, the waiter reheated it, so it came back as a decimated pile of mince. Bizarre: the kid was nice though: all staff very very nice but I’d say, save your money: instead. buy a good wine, some great cheese and a baguette. A much fresher and more...
Read moreGood place to try French mountain food with a fun decor. We didn't have a reservation and arrived roughly 1 hour before closing. Service was a bit slow but the staff was nice. The menu is in French and English.
We were 4 and ordered a meal each. We didn't order the raclette which is one of the recommended mountain food to try because we've had a lot of cheese lately.
We ordered the tartiflette which was delicious. The beef tartare was tasteless but the fries were very good. The ravioli with mushrooms was one of our favorite. It was very flavorful. Finally, the chicken was overall tender and tasted rather good.
The portions were generous but not sure if they are usually like that or because we came in close to closing time and they were "getting rid" of ingredients. Overall, good place to try good mountain food and for the...
