O’BAROUDEUR — Restaurant in Grenoble

We visited this place last summer and it was so wonderful that on our ski trip this year it was the first stop we did for lunch. What a terrible suprise. Service was non existent, waiting and waiting and more waiting. We where squeezed into the corner with 2 small kids and a dog with the promise to be moved to the first available table outside, which never happened. The total wait until we received some food was 1 hour with 2 hungry small kids. When my husband brought this under the attention of the waittress, she was not only extremely rude, she told him straight that our kids are not her problem!! I have never ever seen a waitress speak to a customer like that in my entire adult life! It was disgusting. I can only assume there was a change in owners since our last visit. Even the food when we finally got some was very below average. The "homemade lemonade" was literally sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon! Imagine ordering...

Client-oriented, smiley, polite - this is not about this place. We arrived at 1:10 pm with a friend who works for the ski station (it was her lunch time). We ordered only cold plates. 20 min later, I went to check if the food was on its way, because our friend had to be back at work. When I kindly asked the question, 3 person of stuff inside we so disagreeable, even rude. I was shocked. When I was back to the table to explain the situation to my friends, the waiter came. O’baroudeur is the best place to go for breakfast/ lunch or mid afternoon snack at Alpe d’Huez. The meals are handmade by the team and the pastries / deserts are delicious.

For late pm, it is also quite pleasant to have a beer or wine there, they can serve some tapas.

Overall, the business is managed by locals, and it is always better to support local businesses instead of big international firms, especially when you have a good value for money. Highly...
