I phoned this morning to make a reservation for 4 people. When I got an answering machine I left a message in French which was probably not perfect but I would say clear enough for a reservation, and gave my number for a callback if there was an issue. When we arrived a female staff member asked us if we had a reservation. I explained that I had left a message. She asked us to wait and then a male staff member appeared and I explained again. He basically just shrugged his shoulders and questioned if I had done this (photo attached proves I made the call!) and basically pointed to the end of the long table in the middle and with another shrug and a sour face indicated that we could have that. We felt very unwelcome and decided to leave because of their attitude (we would have been okay with the table if they had been in any way welcoming). In the end we were glad we moved on. With no reservation we were welcomed in the nearby L’1 Pres Vue where all the staff were very pleasant and we had the most delicious meal we have had in Alpe d’Huez. I hope whoever owns La Petite Taverne realises that the bad attitude of their staff cost them over €200...

we had dinner there 2times during our stay, silmply because we really enjoyed the 1st time. however the 2nd time there was no attention(cheese fondue kept on switching off but nobody had enthusiasm to fix it with a friendly face), ventilation (people around were cooking on the stone which was really smelly to the point that our underwear was smelling like charcoal).. the cherry on the top was the digestive of genepee that had 4pc of ice and not more than 20ml of the liquor itself.. sad really that the service is so inconsistent. first time it was a really good experience, 2nd one however...
