Sporting Alpe d'Huez — Restaurant in Grenoble

Terrible service, we had to wait more than 1.5 hours to receive our first course. We then had to follow up multiple times to receive the next course and drinks. For dessert, we had to ask 3 times when it would be arriving. The table next to us even received their food before us, although they arrived at a later time than us. Staff were not attentive at all, rude and unfriendly. Seemed like they did not want to serve us. Amazing atmosphere in the restaurant, great music and DJ when the restaurant turns into a club, but experience was ruined by the lack of service from the staff. We were a big group of people that had pre-ordered menus, and staff were not even accommodating in providing drinks we wanted to order from the drinks list, saying these were not part of the pre-ordered menu choice. Instead of serving us bottles of wine from the wine list of our liking, they initially refused saying we had to choose the house wine. After going back and forth to check whether we could be served other wine (unheard of for a restaurant of this calibre, where you would think this would be no issue), they didn’t even have the 2 bottles we had requested. This is my personal rating on my experience dining in at this restaurant, based on many things. I think this place is overly overpriced for the quality of food which I think most of it is not done in house. Family member said the Thai noodle wasn’t good. The ribs had too much fat. The sides like the vegetables were just steams no seasoning and frankly small. You couldn’t really alter foods like that which is why I think the food is already prepared in advance. They do have a good list of wines. They are quite busy in the evenings but I have to say they are well equipped for anything fondue and other cook on the table thing. I placed a reservation and arrived 5 minutes early. Upon my arrival we were unable to locate a host/ hostess. We entered the restaurant and stood near the bar. Many Sporting employees walked by without saying anything to us. This went on for 10 minutes. I was finally able to stop a waiter and I asked to be seated. Another 5 minutes passed until we were seated at a table. Once seated I activated my stop watch and say patiently as 10 more minutes passed without being offered a drink. The restaurant was not full and did not appear busy. Yet we received horrible service.
