L'effet Papilles offers a delightful experience for food lovers seeking inventive and fresh bistronomic cuisine. Their commitment to using fresh, market-sourced produce truly shines through in every dish. My wife, foreign exchange student (from France) and I recently indulged in their tasting menu, a seven-course culinary adventure, and it was simply amazing!
Forget your schedule and prepare to be transported by the chef's inspiration. For €70 per person, the tasting menu is a fantastic value, showcasing the latest market arrivals with creative flair. Each course was a delightful surprise, a carefully crafted blend of new tastes and textures that told a story of local sourcing and culinary passion. If you're looking for a true foodie experience, let the chef guide you – you won't be disappointed.
They also offer the option of a wine pairing for an additional €30, which I highly recommend to further enhance your dining experience. The pairings were well-considered and elevated each course, beautifully complementing the flavors.
A Word of Caution (and a Recommendation): Be prepared to spend a couple of hours savoring the tasting menu. This is not a quick bite; it's an immersion in flavor and artistry. Embrace the European dining philosophy – it's about the experience, not just fueling up.
Overall: If you have a few hours to spare and a passion for exquisite food, L'effet Papilles is a must-try. The tasting menu is a truly memorable experience, a culinary journey that will leave your taste buds singing. I highly recommend surrendering to the chef's creativity and allowing yourself to be transported by the delicious story told through each meticulously crafted course. Just be sure to clear your calendar and settle in for a truly...
Read moreVery disappointing. We booked us at this restaurant our last night in France this year. We thought we would spend a little more then usually and buy at what we thought to be specially fine restaurant. That was not the case at all. It is more expensive then most restaurants - but that is all. It is not good. and it is exstremely pretentious. They say they offer "5 course menu for 33, 44 and 55 EUR" that is wrong. All this menus is 3 course menu like the menus everywhere else. The only difference is they offer you in between "a drop of taste" (some kind of different sorbet - one teaspoon) and they call that "a course" which it is of course not. That did not trouble me that much though. What troubled me was the courses - how louzy they were for this price! The Faux fillet I ordered was exactly the same I have got many times before at other restaurants here in France, nothing what so ever special or exotic about it. (In fact I will give up ordering this course - it´s completely dull and obviously always the same everywhere). My boyfriend (who ordered the table) got fish that was also completely everyday meal and nothing special or exotic about it what so ever. On top of everything which completely destroyed the night was the desert. We had to wait for it for more then an hour and it was nothing special about it. Not mine nor my boyfriends. It wasn´t even good. I would not even give this restaurant 1 star. Have to say though all the staff was friendly and they wanted everything to be ok. I don´t want to blame them for anything - they would have liked us to be happy. But unfortunately to buy very expensive meal at a price that is two times the price elsewhere is not the way to make customers happy. We are from Iceland and we were very...
