L'épi'Curieux — Restaurant in Le Mans

The missus and I had a fantastic dinner here a month ago. We returned 2 days ago and my meal was nothing like what I had a month ago; rather tasteless. In France it is difficult to find a restaurant that offers low carb, vegetarian food and L'épi'Curieux does offer such food. My wife ordered the Asparagus cuz it was on the menu; waiter said Asparagus is out of season...? Well, why is it still on the menu, then? Service was nice enough. We were sat in the basement and it was uncomfortably warm.

Service was good, but my desert was a burned raspberry brownie...it was awful...I didn't send it back...just ate about half of the brownie and the raspberries off the top. A month ago the same desert was wonderful.

I will look elsewhere next time we are in Le Mans...

I walked in off the street after a recommendation from the hotel that I was staying in (La Groirie). I was welcomed most courteously and, ordering from the plats du jour, I was absolutely delighted at the food.

Simple, yet beautifully cooked. Starting with a deep fried mozzarella ball served on mushrooms and peas, going on to a pollock served on a bed of braised leaks with a chorizo crumb and a shellfish sauce. I finished with a mandarine pannacotta with a chocolate crumb.

If I had to pick one minor flaw it would be that the pannacotta was a little thick but the flavour was excellent.

Very good, but with some but's! Booked in for dinner but only a table outside was available, limited seating inside so okay. Service was a bit 'stretched' but, again, okay. Had two different fantastic entrees, melon, octopus & feta and crab with lemon grass & green apple - really good! Mains were fish & beans - very good and steak & chips disappointing!!
