I went to Le Scoop with a friend on a Tuesday night; upon arrival (19:30), the place was essentially empty but the waiter gently took us to 'the last available table', which coincidentally was just in fron of the bathrooms.
My friend and I had a good laugh while we were also trying to get comfortable on very high tables and stools that did not provide a good customer design experience (it was impossible to find a way to be close enough to the table). This far, was just a bad design.
But then, we started realizing the amount of bad choices this restaurant made in terms of design x customer experience. We order a pitcher wine. The wine was not bad, but the pitcher made pouring it very difficult as it was spilling all over the place (same thing happened to the water).
We ordered the same dish (Filet du Boeuf) but in different cooking points. I ordered the rare/saignant (but came as completely raw/blue), while my friend ordered a point and it came well done. Roughly seasoned, we ended up adding a lot of salt (to fries, meat, etc).
By this time, we were analysing everything: (1) realized that the kniffes had a poor design as well, which made it tricky to automatized the process of even cutting a steak; (2) the table location was not only by the bathroom entrance, but also had a very uncomfortable light by (my) side, I felt like I was 'on the spot' throught the whole dinner; (3) at some point (with all full capacity) the environment was just way too hot - truly umcofortable heat; (4) I decided to order a coffee by the end (which was not at all bad) but presentation was definitely not a must - the waitress brought a side jar with two biscuits, several sugar cubes and types, a great amount of carambar - bear in mind, all this for one small espresso. (5) of course, paying the bill was also not the ideal experience, while a queue formed on the adjunction of the two restaurant rooms and we tried to use meal cards (which was so confusing for the cashier, that we just ended up dropping it) but paid with credit cards.
Unfortunatelly, we won't be visiting this...
Read moreA nice, light meal, great service
A pleasant outdoor seating area, we were looking for a light meal. They have several different types of tartars, based on seasoning. We wanted to try Thai. It was served with bits of green leaves, covered with crushed peanuts and was tangy and very good. Then we ordered what on the English menu is called “Crusty goat-cheese & caramelized beetroot” It was an interesting dish, a sort of an egg roll stuffed with beets and goat cheese. It was really crunchy, and the goat cheese was not very strong. Not sure that it would be my favorite dish, but it was worth trying. Salmon filet, served with lime risotto, was a bit overcooked, even though we asked for it to be pink. The shrimp bisque was basically the sauce for the fish. We also ordered a Caesar Salad, which was very unusual as well. Strips of grilled chicken on one side of the place, and bits of romaine lettuce, tomato and croutons on the other. Finished off with a couple of ice cream bowls, raspberry, coffee & rum raisin. The ice cream was very good. Overall a good meal, but not extraordinary in any way. I did notice that majority of the customers at neighboring tables were only getting tartars, which is the signature dish. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very courteous and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came here for dinner, and I spoke a little French coming in but that was the extent of what I could give. We didn't expect English to be spoken as it can't be presumed, and some of the staff didn't speak fluent English. Regardless, the effort they put in to make us feel welcome and communicate with us was really appreciated. Every staff member was extremely friendly and welcoming.
The food was really good, I highly recommend the Thai prawn salad. So overall, a great dinner for our final...
