Le Souk is a great surprise! It's a place we've found while walking during the day on Lille's streets and then a place we've visited again during night for an amazing dinner. Location is so good: we dined outside, weather was perfect; not too hot and not too windy and the square near us was wide, calm and pleasant to be in. Restaurant's indoors were really suggestive and well designed. You can feel Moroccan's culture.
Food was fantastic and service was really nice!! This was the first time we ate this type of food so we didn't know what to expect. We were amazingly surprised by the quality, presentation and taste. Each dish was really tasty and beautifully plated. A true delice to both eyes and palate. Also portions were generous and worth their price. We tried a mixed starter, two tagines, vin, nougat glacé, patisserie au choix and mint tea. Everything was a great revelation and we were expecially impressed by delicious meat plates and by desserts, as they were better and more various than we thought.
Service was on point too. Waiter was really skilled in english so it was so simple for us to communicate with him. He was very friendly, outgoing and helpful with everything. We'll come...
Read moreI went to this restaurant a few years ago when it had products that could be bought. I'm not sure if it's changed ownership since then? If you're expecting authentic Moroccan food avoid this place. I have never seen more alcohol than food on a menu in a Moroccan restaurant before. Second as a vegetarian there was only one main dish to choose from. We both chose couscous one meat and one veg. The tiny amount of couscous we were given was shared between the 2 of us. The guy next to us got the same amount for one person. The food is quite expensive and I feel I was completely ripped off. When asked our opinion after our meal it was given to I think the owner who was shockingly arrogant and rude because he obviously didn't like the answer. I guess the staff are untrained because they don't explain anything and then take your plate from under your nose without asking if your finished. I wish I had read the reviews before going there again as sadly its nothing like it was a...
Read moreAbsolutely atrocious. Avoid. A very tired restaurant. Usually it’s quite nice to see the kitchen, in this case, sit nowhere near it as it’s just going to break your heart. If that’s a tagine and that was a hot meze then I suggest the “chef” (not debatable, as they clearly aren’t a chef) visits Morocco. Or even another Moroccan restaurant. Or even look online at the ingredients. Even just guess, would have been provided better results. The service was utterly diabolical, we were going to walk out as he was just sat talking to his mates before sauntering over half an hour after arrival. The “chef” was ringing the bell when food was ready, which was totally ignored by the “waiter”, to the point, the “chef” had to take the food out. If you rounded up all the junkies in town, got them to root through the bins, lit a fire and then served the ashes, I’d rather...
