Restaurant HAJVERI — Restaurant in Lille

I travelled from London to experience Lille for the first time, interested to try a taste of real India I ventured with a friend to try the food at the restaurant.

Upon arriving we asked the member of staff if it was convenient to eat given the restaurant was closing in 30 minutes.

He assured us the kitchens were open and to take a seat. The owner of the restaurant was stood behind the counter and was very cold and rude. He did not greet us but shouted to order food before we use the wc facilities.

The wc facilities are shared and the owner accompanied my female friend into the loos and I was told he gave her wondering eyes.

The food was rushed and the salad was a plate of onions nothing more or less embarrassingly, it was not authentic tasting being from north India myself, my friend fell ill from the food and was up all night.

The bill was too expensive for poor quality food and matched the price of a capital city.

I would NOT recommend this place for the poor service and food.

Try ‘le gan’ge’ in vieux Lille instead- happy staff and great...

We happened to enter this place as we were strolling about on our holiday and were craving some curry. We were awestruck by the ambiance and the decor the moment we stepped inside the place. A lot of thought has been put into decorating the interiors as you feel transported to Asia. The servers were so lovely and easy to talk to, they made sure us and our tastebuds were well cared for. Especially Zain made sure the spice levels were to our fancy and he even made us a lovely jug of mango lassi that was the best I've ever tasted. We had a good hearty meal and enjoyed ourselves so much we had to go back a second time on the same trip. Kuddos to the team for the impeccable service, great food and beautiful ambience. We recommend this restaurant to anyone craving Pakistani/Indian food...

Très décevant : (1) nourriture peu savoureuse et chère pour la qualité (2) service moyen (3) amabilité du personnel à revoir.

Nous y venions pour passer un bon moment en famille pour le réveillon, mais je pense qu’il serait préférable de prendre moins de couverts pour mieux s’occuper des clients déjà en place…

Pour avoir testé de nombreux restaurants indiens ici et ailleurs, les sauces des plats (et sauces nan) au Hajveri semblent «diluées», comme coupées avec de l’eau et manquent de relief. Le poulet tikka censé être fondant était sec. La sauce des crevettes madras était aqueuse, mais pour le reste extrêmement pimentée en comparaison avec d’autres restaurants, et du coup immangeable. Le butter Chicken coûte 17,5€ (sans le riz!!), à ce prix-là on s’attend à un délice en bouche mais malheureusement ce n’est pas le cas…

Série d’erreurs dans le service : très longue attente avec un bébé pour les desserts, jusqu’à ce que nous devions nous lever nous-mêmes pour aller demander qu’on nous débarrasse; il était écrit noir sur blanc dans le menu qu’on pouvait choisir « tout dessert au choix » puis on nous refuse arbitrairement les desserts qu’on avait choisis qui ne font soit-disant pas partis du menu (!); puis erreur de parfum quand on nous sert enfin nos glaces… nous ne demanderons même pas à changer par peur d’attente encore trop longue.

Au moment de payer l’addition (quasiment 150e), nous mentionnons discrètement et poliment à la dame en caisse ces erreurs qui ont malheureusement gâché notre dîner.

Aucune écoute, aucune excuse, aucun geste commercial…elle empoche l’argent et nous dit à peine au revoir!!! Très écœurant. Heureusement le monsieur au crâne rasé, très gentil, nous a rattrapé et s’est excusé quant à lui.

Un repas dur à digérer, c’est le cas de le dire… Ce qui est sûr, c’est que nous ne reviendrons PAS et nous ne conseillerons PAS ce restaurant...
