Les Frères Pinard — Restaurant in Lille

What a lovely bar! We popped in for a quick drink before dinner. We didn’t realise that you have to order food to go with your wine but the staff were very understanding whilst we took our time to decide what to order. The menu is all on a QR code and divided by regions of France.

Though we had not planned to eat, the cheese and pate en croute we chose were very good. Excellent quantity for a reasonable price too. We could see lots of beautifully presented charcuterie and cheese boards being eaten too and there was a nice outside seating area.

The service was a tiny bit slow and confusing (eg not clear if it was table service or bar) but we weren’t in a hurry and worked it out so it was fine.

I would come back again and order more...

Really disappointed by this nice place. Despite the wine and the food being delicious, I would never propose it to anyone. We were a couple from Greece who wanted to enjoy some wine, but the service from the manager (probably) and a couple of staff were awful. I tried to talk in french as I know a bit, but when they understood we were not from France, they started behaving rudely and as if we were subordinate to them, while being friendly and welcoming to others (locals or just French) who entered the place later. Maybe I'm wrong and we were treated like that because we were not a fancy rich couple, as trying to appreciate the local products requires a higher level of society. Went here last night, 27th September, had a great evening, got recommended a perfect white that my wife loved and a red for me that was to die for. Spent the evening there and a was happy to pay for the service received. Went back tonight for more of the same, sat in the same seats at the bar, only to be rounded on by the most obnoxious and rude person I've met. Asked us where we were sitting, we said here and he said "absolutely not, I don't have people sitting at my bar (what are the 8 bar stools there for, you may think), all tables are booked, you'll have to leave." We literally left, whilst the other staff looked at their feet, I wouldn't pay your hard earned cash to such an unwelcoming...
