Extremely nice waiters, seated us outside when inside was too hot and initially all tables outside were taken. Meaning that they did not forget about us, which was of course greatly appreciated. The location is stunning as well, in a small street next to the bigger market with all the other restaurants. They prove that you don't need to actually see the chateau to feel that Amboise has a rich past. The location actually gives it that much more charm. The home made tapenade we received with our apéritive was exquisite. We then had the crevettes and local salad for starters and they were sublime. Simple, yet rich flavors, with locally sourced products, which turns a simple salad into so much more. They also take the time to tell you where everything is from, making the dinner an experience. The main courses were very nice as well, and the goat cheese sauce is definitely something different if you feel up for trying something new with your meat! Though I'd say the starters still win in terms of richness of flavor and sampling the best of the best, locally speaking. Service? Awesome! You don't feel like a tourist, you feel like a friend who is visiting, and that kind of service just makes the food and wine taste thàt much sweeter. Only open for six months now, but if they keep this up, they will quickly become the one to...
Read moreExtremely friendly service and delicious dishes. We went for the bavette and the pan fried pollock for mains, warm goat cheese salad with potatoes and smoked pork belly as a starter and the apple crumble for dessert. Nothing was less than delicious. Portions were reasonably sized, too.
And did I mention the service was top notch? Have to highlight this, as it was a full house and our one waiter was doing what a staff of three might have struggled with. All with the friendliest of attitudes, patience and genuine interest in explaining the dishes, taking our order and advising...
Read moreLonely planet needs to give this restaurant a star!! Best restaurant so far in France! We went to this restaurant twice for dinner because we enjoyed it so much. The food is superb and the price is very reasonable. We had the 3 course dinner for about 23 euros, which we found an excellent price relative to others in Amboise, and the wine was also an excellent price. Our waiter gave very good suggestions for wine pairings and for sauces to accompany the dishes. The shrimp were the best I have ever had and the smoked ham was to die for. I cannot say enough positive things...
