We had reserved a table here and called in 20 minutes early to see if we could try a table at 640pm. We didn't receive a very warm welcome and were told to come back at 7. A bad sign.
But we returned as we had booked and felt obliged to keep the reservation. Everyone else was served before us, both giving their order and receiving their drinks. Another bad sign.
I ordered the beef steak, something I'm always a little skeptical to do in case its tough as old boots.
The steak came and was tough as old boots. I couldn't eat it and explained that it was too tough and chewy ro eat, apologising in the process.
The owner then did something very unexpected. Rather than believing me, he took hold of a knife and cut the beef himself , gesturing to me that there was noth8jg wrong with it.
Now at 47 years old age, I think I am experienced enough in eating at restaurants around the world to tell when a steak is tender or tough. There was no need to cut through it.
I politely asked for the bill. It didn't arrive. I then politely asked the female waitress for thr bill..it didn't arrive.
I then went up to the counter and asked the same man for the bill. He told me the cost and presented the card machine. I again asked for the bill.
He finally produced a bill and hadn't taken off the beef.
At no point during this horrendous process did he apologise or offer me something else.
Obviously, the money was more important than any form of service.
I paid for the food I had not eaten in full and will next be making a complaint about this restaurant to the tourist office.
Very poor food and...
Read moreoily food, from the fries (cooked and over cooked) to the meat (too greasy). Disappointed as the region carries fresh produces not reflected in the plate.
Desserts are whatever. Overall, expensive prices for what is it.
The good point is, waiters are nice ! They should be however more relax for the bistrot food they are serving, but it’s probably restaurant manager directions.
I was more impressed by Prosper (another French restaurant with food more elaborated and tasty), few streets away.
Covid special : no social distanciation between people, tables are really close to...
