Brasserie L'Est - Bocuse — Restaurant in Lyon

Disapoitment is a euphemism. I used to go there from the opening of the restaurant years ago and I can tell you this has become a shell of what it used to be really not worth the money anymore. My last experience was the menu seriously lacked inspiration especially for a restaurant which concept is the "Cusine du voyage". Although the dishes were prepared adequatly, this was more or less the only thing that was "ok" (and not mindblowing, far from it). We had booked a table for 7, but fortunately ended up being 6. Fortunately? Yes, there is no way that table could have accomodated another person. The service was very unprofessional. We waited about 20 minutes for our order to be taken and the wrong dishes got delivered 30 minutes later. We constantly had to fight to get the attention of the waiters to get water (mineral one). When they finally came to get our order for desserts we offered to go thruough it again to be sure we got it right which was met with despise by the waiter... which brought the wrong desserts! The Rhum Baba was served without Rhum and I had to get up and go pick up the bottle that had been discarded by the waiters on an adjacent table for the past 30mins. I tried to contact the restaurant via their website and they didn't even bother to reply. My advice, if you're in the Brotteaux area and wants to have a good experience, just walk accorss the street to the Spendide. They've lost a loyal customer in me,...

The food was only decent but nothing close to the hype that we read about and were expecting from a foodie capital such as Lyon. The service was OK but rather slow and most disappointingly we were redirected to buy some beef that was advertised as €60 under the impression that it was going to be less expensive than paying for beef priced at €38 per person, which we initially requested. Our waitress suggested we go with the €60 beef since it was for two people, thinking it was the better deal and that she was helping us, we ordered it. When we receive the bill we found out that the beef we had ordered was actually $60 per person, a $44 difference in what we were expecting to pay versus what we actually paid. We spoke to the manager trying to explain how we were misled by our waitress but he said he couldn’t do anything and tried to placate us with alcoholic beverages instead of offering a refund. Eventually he offered us a partial refund, twenty euros, less than half of what would have been a fair refund after being misguided by our waitress. We would have left probably close to a €20 tip since we are Americans and we believe in tipping, but because we were lied to and mislead we are leaving an angry review instead. 100% cannot recommend due to shady staff and inflexibility of managerial supervision to provide adequate...

I am giving L'Est a 2 out of 5 because we visited there 2 nights in a row. The first night our food was delicious, cooked perfectly and the service excellent. We returned the following night as our first experience was so good. It was our last dinner is France before returning to Canada and we were extremely disappointed. Our starters were terrific but when our dinner arrived the prawns were over cooked and sent back to the kitchen leaving my partner to eat his meal alone as my second plate arrived after he was finished eating. When new second plate came back I ate 2 of the prawns, they were over cooked again. The risotto was ok, slightly under cooked but edible. We felt our server was not attentive particularly because we sent a plate back, he should have checked on me once was I received the replacement. He offered free dessert but was slow to return to ask what we would like. Our wine was empty and we were never offered an additional bottle. We left after we both ate dinner alone. It was the only night in France where we only had 1 bottle of wine. Had this happened our first night there we would never have returned.
