We had a marvelous experience eating at this restaurant. The service was great, the waiter very friendly and despite doing all the tables himself, he was always perfectly anticipating our needs. The food was delicious! They had only a few choices, some adventurous dishes and some more common ones, borrowing from cuisines all over the world, thereby having something for everyone's taste. What made our experience unforgettable was the selection of vegan cheeses that were homemade by the restaurant. We read through the book on how to make them (which was on display) but the magic of the vegan cheeses was not reduced one bit knowing how they're made. It was truly a special experience. Highly recommend and would go back any time! For two people we each got one glass of wine, unlimited refills of water and delicious bread, and a 3-course meal. We paid - including tips - 78 euros.

We were so impressed by this place! My wife is vegetarian and we were sad that we couldn’t find a traditional “Lyonnaise” restaurant that could accommodate until we found Like an Elephant. Not only did they serve clever vegan takes on Lyonnaise food, they were very accommodating of my nut allergy (a terrifying thing at a vegan restaurant) and very patient with our lack of French language skills. This was one of our favorite things we experienced in Lyon! (Fair warning if you’re walking, especially from the other side of the Rhône - it is at the top of an extremely steep hill)

One of the highlights of our visit to Lyon was our dinner at Like An Elephant. Fantastic food, unique flavors, and the friendliest staff you could ever ask for. We also brought our little dog, and she was taken such good care of that I think she wanted to stay there rather than come home with us 😄 Highly recommended, if you have a friend that thinks vegan food has to be boring, bring them here and blow their little minds 😄

“Lo-fi vibe, hi-5 cuisine”

Burger haricot rouge, tu me tourmente…two lunches and counting. Dinner full formule worth the splurge. For the more modest budget the lunch a la carte option allows you to vote with your wallet by supporting those who want their food morally clean and like having their preconceived limits expanded of what an herbivore diet can be, without more than a slight gasp

Thoughts: (pas trié)

French conversational prowess ensures mutual privacy. The terrace is beautiful in warm weather Inside intimate yet airy Interior design gives catamaran-ing “Les tertiaires” keep sending me harassing emails so I’m writing this Ingredients fresh seasonal Food clean Cool romantic The future of cuisine Delicious and commendable ré-occupation of less trafficked XRousse My first time “new potatoes” had cohesive cleavage, later in the season they had a softer consistency Each time you taste the land, so again bravo. Inventive gastronomy It bears repeating the burger is brilliant (reflects a brilliant thought, just like an…) They have an aigre side, this elephant reflected in my roquette side salad Latte is delicious Yes entrée Anything velouté Yes dessert Always Service isn’t antebellum Chef is gifted Please support them

Nous sommes allés manger vendredi midi chez Like An Elephant .

Merci merci...

Like An Elephant is a delightful neighbourhood vegan restaurant that would appeal to any gastronome. The €38 set menu includes two options for each of three courses and two wonderful amuse bouches as a pre-appetiser and pre-dessert, making the five courses outstanding value. I ordered two excellent glasses of their Côtes de Rhone which complemented the dishes perfectly.

The highlight for me was the panals rôti (roasted parsnip) starter, which was sublime. I chose the portobello poêlé for the main which featured interesting textures and flavours of mushrooms ... and I'm always seduced by a hint of truffle.

The dessert wasn't quite there. I ordered the Isle Flottante (intrigued by a vegan soft meringue) which didn't disappoint but the crème anglaise had an unpleasant aftertaste as if the cornstarch (?) hadn't been worked in? I don't think it was the anise that wasn't landing but something wasn't quite right, sadly. Otherwise every course was wonderful with friendly,...
