The Monkey Club — Restaurant in Lyon

We visited the bar on a Friday evening shortly before 21:40 and sat down at a nice table for two. It took about 15 minutes before we were noticed and approached. We were brought the menu and water and shortly afterwards our order was taken - two Monkey 47 gin and tonics. A few minutes later, we were asked to move to make room for a larger group. As we are both from the restaurant trade ourselves, we went along with this with understanding. Unfortunately, the evening ended for us after that. We waited more than 45 minutes in vain for our drinks, and the group of 6 people next to us, for whom we had moved, got their cocktails. When the waitress asked the group another 10 minutes later if everything was OK with them and ignored us, we decided to leave. Overall nice bar. But there’s one waiter who has a serious problem keeping his hands to himself. We were a group of 6 who had to be seated in the bar area so it was a bit cramped. As I was taking off my coat to sit, the waiter shoved me so he could get by. Not even an “ excuse me”. I decided to ignore his behavior and figured “ it’s a busy night, he’s just trying to get the job done, so I’ll steer clear from him. But a few moments later he put his hand on my friends’ shoulder, as he was walking past us, and we don’t even know why considering he was sitting and out of the way. It was really uncomfortable for him.

Definitely not a place I will be returning to anytime soon. Unless I can get a seat away from rude waiters who don’t know how to keep their hands...

Cool bar with a fun décor and ambiance. Friendly staff and good bartenders. It's a typical cocktail lounge that has their own unique offerings and use the similar of approach of having 5 well-known ingredients and on obscure one in a majority of your cocktails.
