Rewarding Experience – Fantastic Service
We received service from Maison Maconnaise des Vins (Macon House of Wines) which you rarely see these days.
After a day of exploring Macon, we stopped at Maison Maconnaise des Vins to buy some wine. We had a delightful wine tasting "tour" of the Macon and surrounding wine districts conducted by an informative young gentlemen working at the Maison.
We ended up buying a case of wine. The Maison offered to have the wine delivered to us. We informed him that since we were cruising down the Rhone on a boat and we were leaving at 7am the next morning for Lyon, the wine would have to be delivered to us at the Macon port de plaisance that night. He said that was not a problem as the wine would be delivered at 7pm that night. We gave him our phone number and asked that he call us so that we could meet him at the docks to receive the wine.
We neither received a phone call nor the wine. Without our wine, we left Macon the next morning disappointed. After a conversation with the Maison, it turned out that the wine was delivered to the capitainerie of the port who said it would be delivered to us which did not happen. Even though we were well on our way to Lyon (75km away), the Maison said they would deliver our wine to us rather than refund our money. We said that was not necessary but they insisted and true to their word, later that night, the Maison delivered our case of wine to us in Lyon which we enjoyed thoroughly for the rest of our trip.
This was service beyond compare and we highly recommend Maison Maconnaise des Vins (Macon House of Wines) for any of your...
Read moreHad a late lunch in Mâcon as we meandered north towards La Côte d’Or; as soon as I saw the name, I knew this was to be the restaurant. The service was correct, the cadre was inviting. The entrées were delicious (vol au vent), as was my main course, the ris de veau (sweetbreads), but my girlfriend’s Charolais entrecôte was decidedly overcooked: saignant turned shoe leather. As I was explaining to my girlfriend, Charolais is some of the finest beef, tender and delicious. I believe this unfortunate error was an outlier, an exception, certainly not intentional and yes, I would return to dine here again. The kitchen had just closed by this point, so no possibility of sending it back. The hostess did comp our drinks, which was much...
