La table d'Augustine — Restaurant in Marseille

I've never felt compelled to leave a review before, but I had such a bad experience I have to comment on it here so that other potential guests don't waste their time and money. We were basically ignored from the moment we were seated (despite having a reservation, arriving on time, and being perfectly warm and polite to our hosts). My starter was essentially a raw egg and four tiny, shrivelled bits of Asparagus for £25. Despite ordering a carafe of wine, the waitress only bought a single glass, and needed two reminders (each about an hour apart) before bringing the amount of wine we'd ordered, at which point we'd nearly finished our mains and it was too late in the night/ pointless. The tables on either side of us were served far quicker and in a much friendlier manner than we were, and despite ordering the same dishes theirs were presented much more nicely. Towards the end of the night I ordered a coffee, which never arrived. Staff all but threw our meals down on the table and treated us with contempt, but we honestly couldn't think why as we'd been polite, quiet, and friendly. Overall it was terrible and very slow service, and extremely overpriced for bad to average food. This is it! You have to come here. La table d'Augustine is the best restaurant around. We came here based in some reviews on Google but none of them do justice.

The restaurant is charming and food is incredible. Make sure you come early... 19:45 is pushing it. This place got packed in 15 minutes.

The menu is small but has a little bit for everyone's taste. Fresh fish, steaks, veal, pasta, lamb.... etc. The fetta and watermelon salad was super good and the octopus appetizer is a must have. Everything was cooked perfectly.

The fish of the day was light and super flavorful, rigatoni and black truffle was delicate and savory. The lamb shank also very good... not gamey at all. Served with creamy mashed potatoes.... incredible.

The creme brulee was sweet but light at the same time. Service is super friendly and maybe a little slow if you are used to having people rush you to get the seat.... not here... here there is a good pace and definitely no rush. Drink your wine and enjoy every minute of it. Which brings me to drinks... a lot of people order cocktails and seem to enjoy them a lot. I heard good commentaries about them. So if you like cocktails this may be also a good place.

I recently visited La Table D’Augustine with my friends and ordered Selection de fromages Mamet which is a cheese plate, which is clearly listed on their menu. To my surprise, the owner responded to my friends’ previous review by claiming that they don’t serve this dish. To set the record straight, I've attached a photo of their menu clearly showing.

This just goes to show that the owner is again attempting to lie and deceive customers, just like what happened to us. It's disappointing to see a business operate with such dishonesty. Future customers, beware.

I’m a fair and honest guy but I’ve never experienced such a bad service in my life. The restaurant has a lot of pottential but they will have to do something about it.

They also call my friend a liar in the reviews while he is absolutely not, which worries me. If we had to officially inspect the restaurant, they would have had a big problem.
