Pizzeria Chez Nico — Restaurant in Marseille

Came for the food, stayed for the hospitality! Last week we stumbled upon Chez Nico because we were looking for a restaurant open late after arriving from the airport. We saw they were open until 11pm and came in at 10:15pm thinking we’d try to be in and out before they closed. We instead ended up staying past close and having a wonderful conversation with Nico himself as he encouraged us to stay as long as we liked. Philippe was our server and they both made us feel incredibly welcome and as though we were friends in their home vs. strangers in a restaurant. The best pizza I ever had in my life! I recommend Anchois. I had a take away pizza Anchois (anchovies). At first it looked at little burned, and I was skeptical but then the chef said that it was supposed to look like that and that it was his speciality. He was right! The atmosphere is pittoresque, a little restaurant with two hard working guys. Pizza's are made out of scratch; he starts with a little dough and makes it into a full blown tasteful pizza....
